The familiar weight of silence hung heavy in my office, wrapping around me like an old companion. The faint hum of the city outside barely registered as I leaned back in my leather chair, my head tilted against the headrest, eyes closed.

The whiskey glass on my desk sat untouched, half-filled with amber liquid, casting long shadows against the polished surface.

I let the stillness stretch out, letting my mind drift to her. Even in silence, she found a way to invade my mind.

Morana.

My little vixen.

Even now, hours after she had left my house, I could still feel the phantom heat of her lips against mine, the way her body had melted into me before she ran off, pretending she didn't want what was already hers. I had replayed the memory so many times, it had burned itself into my brain.

A smirk tugged at my lips.

She could deny it all she wanted… But I knew. She was already mine.

"Boss."
