Chapter 4 - in the right or in the wrong?

Felix shook his head, trying to calm me down. "No. It's not a date. Maybe it's just a friend..."

Rhea rolled her eyes, throwing a french fry on him. "It's a date." She said.

"Yeah, it is. I wonder who that woman is," I said, confused.

Rhea raised an eyebrow. "You've not seen her before?" she asked. I shook my head, trying to calm down. I didn't want to get jealous. I mean, I'm here with Felix, sitting so close to him. Anyone would get the wrong idea.

We watched them, trying not to be too obvious. "Why are we stalking your husband?" Felix asked. "We can just go over there or just leave him alone, right?"

Rhea glared at him and threw a French fry at his face. "No, silly," she said, "Don't you see how suspicious this is? That woman... she looks important. And he's here, randomly, and you expect us to just ignore it?"

"Shush," I said, throwing a fry back at her. She caught it. "You're being too loud. He's right. We're being weird. I'll just say hi."

I waved at Andrew and called out to him. He looked around the room, then saw us. He hesitated for a second, then waved back. He excused himself from the woman and came over.

"Hello, everyone," Andrew greeted.

We all greeted him back.

"I didn't expect you to get off work so early," I said.

"Could also say the same for you," he replied. "Um, can I talk to you for a second?" I nodded and stepped away with him. "I see you're having fun. Isn't that the guy who dropped you off yesterday?

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Who is that woman?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"That's my boss's younger sister. She invited me to dinner to talk about a business plan she's working on. She's considering me for a job."

"What kind of job?"

"It's in engineering. We'd work with her clothing company to add some tech features to certain things."

"Cool. Sounds like a lot of work," I said, giving him a thumbs up.

"It is. But look, you need to stop hanging out with Felix so much. You're married now. It doesn't look good for you to be out with your male friends all the time." He grabbed my hand, showing me my wedding ring.

I groaned. "Can you stop overreacting about this?"

"Can you stop arguing?!" he said, raising his voice.

"Fine. I'll stop hanging out with him if that will make you feel better."

He glared at me. "Don't try to make me sound like the bad guy here. I'm not saying you can't see him at all. Just... not all the time. You're going to give this ring back to me if you keep this up."

"I don't get it," I said, getting a little louder. "Are you saying I'm going to cheat on you with him? Are you even hearing yourself?" I pumped for information, my voice laced with irritation.

"I'm sorry, I can't do this right now. Stop whining, okay? I have to go. Love you, babe." He kissed my cheek and went back to the woman. Did he just indirectly call me a cheater or was that a threat? Either one, I didn't like how that sounded.

I can't just stop hanging out with Felix too. It's not like I do everyday of the week. I barely have time for myself, let alone Felix.

I went back to my table, framing a calm demeanor. I ate my food, not uttering a word. Rhea asked, "How'd it go?"

"Nothing weird. She's a business partner."

"See," Felix exclaimed. "He's not doing anything."

"I have to go," I said, picking up my hand bag from the table. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."

"What are you talking about? Do you have somewhere to be?" Rhea asked, her brows furrowed in confusion. I nodded, thinking of a good excuse.

"I forgot, I need to grab something to dinner."

"I can just buy–"

"No," I said, cutting Felix short. "It's something I'm supposed to do for my husband and I." I put on a convincing smile, and we parted ways. Andrew noticed me leaving alone, as we locked eyes for a split second. I was annoyed with his comments earlier, so I didn't bother telling him I was leaving.

I took a cab home, trying to ignore the fact that I just ruined a perfect day by spending time with Felix. Maybe, Andrew's right. Felix could cause some future issues if I get too close to him like back in school.

I felt kind of tired, so I fell asleep on the couch. I didn't know how long I was asleep for but when I woke up, I found myself in my bed, with Andrew sleeping next to me. He must've brought me in when he came home.

I stared at him for a few seconds, and the site made me forget I was ever mad at him. I found my way to the kitchen, pouring myself a glass of water. After finishing the water, I saw it was still dark out, so I went back to sleep.
