At that moment Raymond jabbed a finger at her face. "You're the one who told us Zane was worthless! That Emma married a nobody! A damn shop owner with nothing going for him! You stood right there and laughed—mocked him like he was scum!"
Violet's lips parted slightly, stunned. She wasn't expecting that.
Raymond laughed bitterly, shaking his head. "But guess what, Violet? That same 'worthless' man just sent Daniel's corpse to our doorstep. In a coffin. With a message."
Hearing what Raymond just said Violet blinked. "What?"
"He said we have four days left," Raymond growled, pacing again. "FOUR DAYS! And you're here acting clueless!"
At that moment Violet stood still for a second, her eyes widening—until she suddenly scoffed and let out a dry, sarcastic laugh.
"That's ridiculous," she said, waving a hand as if brushing off dust. "No… no, that's not possible."
