Chapter 56 - The Night Of The Uchiha Massacre

The moon hung high over Konoha, its pale light casting long shadows across the rooftops. But within the Uchiha Compound, those shadows were alive—moving with purpose, with intent. The peaceful night air was thick with the tension of impending bloodshed, though the rest of the village remained blissfully unaware. For Itachi Uchiha, every step deeper into the compound felt like wading into an abyss from which there was no return.

Itachi moved like a ghost, his Sharingan spinning in the moonlight as he advanced through the familiar streets of the Uchiha Compound. Beside him, Obito Uchiha, hidden behind his spiral mask, exuded an almost palpable bloodlust. His strides were confident, as if the massacre to come was nothing more than a chore to be completed.

The first house they approached was eerily silent. Itachi paused at the threshold, his heart pounding in his chest. Inside, he could hear the soft, steady breathing of a family he had known since childhood—neighbors, friends, people who had watched him grow.

His hand trembled as it reached for his kunai.

Obito's voice was a cold whisper in his ear. "Do it."

Itachi hesitated for a heartbeat longer. Then, with a deep breath, he slipped inside the house. The darkness inside felt suffocating. Moving with practiced stealth, he approached the first bedroom. The door creaked open, revealing a sleeping couple. Their faces were peaceful, unknowing.

With swift precision, Itachi struck, silencing their lives in an instant.

The bodies crumpled silently to the floor, and Itachi stood there, staring at what he had done. His heart felt like a lead weight in his chest, but there was no turning back now.

The massacre had begun.

Obito moved ahead, his approach far less restrained. He tore through the compound with savage glee, his attacks brutal and merciless. He set houses ablaze, ensuring that the screams of the dying echoed through the night, blending with the crackle of flames and the metallic scent of blood.

Itachi followed, his kills precise and efficient. But with every life he took, the weight on his soul grew heavier. Memories of laughter, of family gatherings, of childhood innocence flashed through his mind, but he pushed them aside.

For Sasuke, he reminded himself. For the village.

Deep within the cold, sterile walls of Root Headquarters, Danzo Shimura sat surrounded by his masked operatives. His single eye gleamed with satisfaction as he listened to the reports filtering in from the Uchiha Compound.

"The Uchiha are falling as planned," one operative whispered, their voice devoid of emotion.

Danzo nodded, the corners of his mouth curling into a slight smirk. "Ensure Sasuke survives. His hatred will be a valuable tool."

He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers. The destruction of the Uchiha was more than just a necessary evil—it was an opportunity. With the clan gone, Danzo's influence within Konoha would grow unchecked. Root would become the true power behind the Hokage, guiding the village from the shadows.

But Danzo wasn't the only one observing the night's events.

In the deepest shadows of the village, Raven Kamizuki watched the massacre unfold, her violet Rinnegan eyes glinting with a mixture of amusement and quiet fury. Yuumi perched on her shoulder, her tails flicking lazily as she observed the carnage below.

"You're really going to let them get away with this?" Yuumi whispered, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Raven's smirk was cold and calculating. "For now."

The Uchiha Household was eerily silent as Itachi entered, his footsteps echoing through the halls. The once warm and lively home now felt like a tomb.

He found Fugaku Uchiha waiting in the main hall, standing tall despite the betrayal he knew was coming. The clan head's eyes were hard, but there was a flicker of something softer—regret, perhaps.

"Itachi," Fugaku said quietly, his voice steady despite the tension in the room. "I see you've made your choice."

Itachi's heart clenched painfully in his chest, but he forced himself to meet his father's gaze. "I have."

For a moment, neither of them moved. Then Fugaku gave a small nod, his shoulders relaxing slightly.

"Then do what you must."

Itachi's hands trembled as he raised his blade. Just as he prepared to strike, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the hall.

"Nii-san?" Sasuke's voice was soft, filled with confusion.

Itachi's heart nearly broke at the sound. He turned to see his younger brother standing in the doorway, his wide eyes filled with innocent horror.

Before Sasuke could fully comprehend what was happening, Itachi plunged his blade into Fugaku's chest. The older man crumpled to the floor without a sound.

Sasuke's scream tore through the night, a raw, anguished sound that seemed to reverberate through Itachi's very soul. His younger brother's eyes glowed crimson, his Sharingan awakening in a burst of fury and grief.

Sasuke ran, his vision blurred by tears as he fled through the blood-soaked streets of the compound. The faces of his family flashed before his eyes—lifeless, empty, their deaths seared into his memory.

But no matter how fast he ran, Itachi was never far behind.

He caught up to Sasuke at the edge of the compound, his expression cold and unreadable. Sasuke collapsed to his knees, his small frame trembling with exhaustion and terror.

Itachi stood over him, his shadow looming large in the moonlight.

"If you want to kill me," Itachi said, his voice low and emotionless, "hate me. Despise me. Run, cling to life… and one day, when you have the same eyes as I do, come and face me."

Sasuke's eyes burned with tears and fury, his newly awakened Sharingan blazing with hatred. The seeds of vengeance were planted, and Itachi knew they would grow into something unstoppable.

From the rooftops above the Uchiha Compound, Raven Kamizuki watched the final moments of the massacre with narrowed eyes. Yuumi sat beside her, tail flicking with a mix of curiosity and disdain.

"Well," Yuumi drawled, "that was… dramatic."

Raven's lips curled into a smirk. "Let them think they've won."

As Itachi met Obito at the outskirts of Konoha, the moonlight glinted off Obito's mask. Itachi's face remained impassive, but his heart was heavy with the weight of his choices.

"You've done well," Obito murmured, his voice dripping with false praise. "Welcome to the Akatsuki."

Itachi nodded, but his thoughts were with Sasuke. He had betrayed his clan, his family—but it was all for the village. And for his brother.

As the two disappeared into the night, Raven's smirk widened.

"This," she whispered, her Rinnegan gleaming, "is only the beginning."

The Uchiha Clan was no more. Only Sasuke remained, his heart consumed by vengeance. Itachi had become a traitor, his soul burdened by the weight of his actions.

But Raven?

She was already planning her next move.

The Sage of Six Slices had her sights set on Konoha—and when the time came, the village would taste a revolution unlike anything they had ever known.
