Chapter 66 - The Solo Bell Blunders

The sun filtered through the trees of Training Ground 7, casting dappled light on the grassy clearing where Team 7 stood, facing their ever-calm, ever-mysterious sensei, Kakashi Hatake. The two silver bells dangling from Kakashi's belt jingled softly, a quiet taunt against the tense silence.

Kakashi's lone visible eye scanned the team lazily, but beneath that bored exterior was a shinobi ready to test them like they'd never been tested before.

"You've got until noon," Kakashi said, his voice as casual as if he were discussing the weather. "If you don't have a bell by then, you'll be tied to those posts"—he gestured lazily to the three wooden stumps behind him—"and sent back to the Academy."

Naruto's fists clenched, his headband gleaming in the morning light. Ramen power surged through his veins. I'm not going back. I'll show them all!

"Begin."

In an instant, Kakashi vanished, leaving only a swirl of dust and the faint jingle of those taunting bells.

Naruto didn't hesitate. With a loud yell, he charged straight ahead, his legs pumping and his heart racing.

"TAKE THIS, KAKASHI-SENSEI! RAMEN STYLE: NOODLE SNARE JUTSU!"

Naruto reached into his pouch, pulling out a hastily packed bundle of ramen noodles—slightly overcooked, slippery, and utterly unfit for ninja combat. But Naruto had a plan. Kind of.

He flung the noodles like ninja wires, aiming to entangle Kakashi in a gooey web of miso-flavored chaos.

For a moment, there was silence. Then, behind Naruto, a voice spoke, calm and unimpressed.

"Naruto… are you serious?"

Naruto barely had time to spin around before Kakashi's hand shot out, pinching Naruto's nose and lifting him off the ground like a kitten by the scruff.

Naruto's legs flailed wildly. "H-HEY! LET GO!"

Kakashi sighed. "Noodles? Really?" With a flick of his wrist, he tossed Naruto into a nearby tree, where the boy slid down the trunk with a groan, his dreams of a ramen-fueled victory slipping away with each falling noodle.

Hidden in the shadows, Raven Kamizuki watched Naruto's spectacular failure with an amused smirk.

Ramen boy never learns.

Unlike Naruto, Raven wasn't about to rush in blindly. She had a plan—an elaborate, ridiculous plan that involved more cheese than any self-respecting ninja should ever carry.

She crept through the underbrush, her violet eyes gleaming with mischief. From her pouch, she pulled out her secret weapon: pizza-based traps.

First, she set up a pizza sauce slick in a narrow pathway she guessed Kakashi might pass through. Next, she rigged a series of cheese-string tripwires between two trees, the mozzarella stretched just enough to be invisible but sticky enough to trip even the most agile shinobi.

For the grand finale, Raven prepared her masterpiece: The Exploding Calzone Bomb. A seemingly innocent calzone, but packed inside was a mess of hot marinara and molten cheese, ready to burst on impact.

Let's see you dodge this, sensei.

Raven waited, her breath steady, her traps set. And sure enough, Kakashi appeared, strolling casually down the path as if on a leisurely walk.

Raven's heart pounded. She gave the signal—a small flick of her fingers—and the traps sprang to life.

Kakashi stepped onto the pizza sauce slick, his foot sliding out from under him. But before Raven could celebrate, Kakashi flipped mid-air, effortlessly avoiding the cheese tripwires and landing directly in front of the calzone bomb.

Raven grinned. Gotcha.

But instead of panicking, Kakashi picked up the calzone, examined it thoughtfully, and took a bite.

"…Hmm. Needs more garlic."

Raven's jaw dropped. He ate it?!

Before she could react, Kakashi was behind her, tapping her on the shoulder.

"Nice try," he whispered, and with a swift motion, he tied her up with her own cheese tripwires, leaving her dangling from a tree branch.

As Kakashi disappeared again, Raven couldn't help but laugh. Alright, sensei. You're good. But I'm not done yet.

While Naruto flailed in the bushes and Raven dangled from a tree, Sasuke Uchiha moved with the silent grace of a predator. He watched Kakashi from the shadows, his dark eyes narrowing.

I'll show them all who the real prodigy is.

Sasuke darted forward, his movements precise and calculated. He formed quick hand signs.

"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A massive fireball roared to life, hurtling toward Kakashi with scorching heat. For a moment, Sasuke felt a surge of satisfaction. No way he's dodging this.

But Kakashi didn't even flinch. In a flash, he disappeared, reappearing behind Sasuke with a casual flick to the forehead.

"Too slow."

Sasuke stumbled forward, his eyes wide with disbelief as Kakashi's laughter echoed through the trees.

Meanwhile, Sakura Haruno had her own plan. She knew Kakashi's reputation—he was calm, cool, and loved his books. Maybe, just maybe, she could distract him with her charm and intelligence.

She approached cautiously, putting on her best sweet smile.

"Kakashi-sensei," she called softly. "You know, you don't have to make this so hard. We could all just talk this out. Maybe over some tea?"

Kakashi didn't even look up from his book.

"Oh, really?" he muttered, flipping a page. "How fascinating."

Sakura's smile faltered. Before she could try another tactic, Kakashi made a quick hand sign.

Suddenly, Sasuke appeared in front of her—wounded and unconscious.

"SASUKE!" she screamed, her world spinning.

But it was a Genjutsu. The illusion shattered, and Sakura fainted from the shock, collapsing in a heap on the forest floor.

As noon approached, Kakashi gathered the battered, bruised, and thoroughly humiliated Team 7 at the clearing. Naruto was covered in noodle bits, Raven still had cheese in her hair, Sasuke glared daggers at the ground, and Sakura was just regaining consciousness.

Kakashi looked them over, his eye crinkling in amusement.

"Well," he said, "that was… interesting."

Naruto leapt to his feet. "HEY! That wasn't fair! You tricked us!"

Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "Did I?"

Raven crossed her arms, still smirking despite her failure. "Alright, sensei. What's the catch?"

Kakashi's gaze swept over them, his tone shifting from playful to serious.

"You all failed because you didn't work together," he said quietly. "A ninja team succeeds as one or fails as one."

The words hung in the air, heavy and final. Naruto's shoulders slumped, Sasuke's scowl deepened, and even Raven felt a twinge of frustration.

Kakashi pointed to the wooden stumps behind him. "You'll spend the rest of the day tied to those posts. If you can't succeed in your next attempt, you get one more chance. This time, you need to remember: teamwork is everything."

As Kakashi walked away, the team sat in stunned silence, the lesson sinking in. But deep down, Naruto's eyes still burned with determination.

Next time, we'll get those bells. Even if I have to prank him into submission.

And in the shadows, Raven's grin returned.

The game's just getting started.
