Chapter 124 - Women Are Not to Be Trifled With

I reluctantly opened my eyes, my eyelids feeling as heavy as lead. The curtains, which had previously been tattered and riddled with holes, now stood replaced with new ones. The luxurious phoenix tail pattern, intricately woven, swayed gently on the translucent beige gauze, as if dancing to an unheard melody. It was finally a sunny day, yet the flimsy curtains couldn't even block the piercing sunlight, which seemed to glare at me, clearly signaling, "Vampires are not welcome here!"

Looking around the room, I noticed that the cabinets had also been swapped out. They still boasted the same elaborate carvings as before, with each curve and swirl telling a story of craftsmanship. Bevis sat in the small study facing the bed, his eyes intently examining photos. The wooden chair creaked softly under his weight as he shifted slightly. I turned over sharply, my body tense, and turned my back to him, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing my face.
