Evelyn finishes treating my wounds, but doesn't step back. Instead, she studies my face like she's looking for something specific. "You feel it, don't you? The pull? Even now, something's calling to you in this place."
She's right. Since we entered, there's been a tugging sensation in my chest, like a compass needle trying to point north. It's gotten stronger the deeper we've gone into her sanctuary.
"What is this place really?" Thalia asks, and there's an edge to her voice now. "Why are you here… if I didn't know better I would even go as far as to say that you were exiled."
"Exiled?" Evelyn laughs, but there's no humor in it. "Is that what they're calling it now? No, little witch. I wasn't exiled. I escap...I left… Because I discovered something some very powerful individuals spent centuries trying to hide. Something that would shatter everything both sides believe about their precious war."
