Sometimes we don't need words to understand what someone meant. With just the expression on their face tell us all what they want to say and sometimes their eyes. This is what the the girls who were admiring Jae Won at the ice cream parlor felt and they knew what could happen.
"What, is he jealous or what?" the cute girl in midst of the crowd asked. "Is not like I'm going to eat him. But I guess I will do if I'm given the chance" she said, her voice low as she chuckled turning to her friends who still can't keep their eyes off Jae Won.
"Wow, he is beautiful" they both said simultaneously. They were able to maintain focus only after Jae Won and Vincent left the ice cream parlor. 'I wish we just went home' Vincent thought as he clenched his wrist ready to beat anyone who dare lay their eyes on Jae Won.
A few days has passed successfully and now Vincent had to leave the next day. They went outside after dinner and they sat together on the porch swing, Jae Won gazed at Vincent with a mix of affection, longing and possibly an overwhelming feeling of loneliness, his voice was tinged with sadness as he said "I'm going to miss you so so much" as he hugged him from his side.
Vincent's eyes softened to the point of an ice melting point, he reached out his hand and brushed off a strand of hair off Jae Won's face after he returned back to his position after hugging Vincent and he said in a low and gentle voice "I'm gonna miss you too".
In a comfortable silence, they sat for a moment as the sun began to set behind the trees watching the miraculous wonder of the creator. "How are we gonna study?" Jae Won asked breaking the silence. Vincent turned to Jae Won with a chucked "silly, that's why there is phones and video calls" he said as he shook his head in disbelief.
With his voice filled with hope, Jae Won suddenly sat up straight with a mischievous glint in his eyes and said "hey, since you are leaving tomorrow, can we make the most out of our time together? We can do a whole lot of things this evening till tomorrow and not sleep". This made Vincent lips curled up as a smile crept up on his face and also reached his eyes.
As his face lit up and could shine brightly to whole world and with a warm smile that met the heart "of course, we can. We still have more time before tomorrow so let's spend it together as if it is our last day on earth" he said as he stood up and holding out his hand for Jae Won.
Together they walked to a nearby park enjoying the beautiful evening air and the most important thing was each other's company and they loved it as much as I'm telling you. Their heart beats together as they walked like a wedding couple walking down the aisle after they had recite their vow and now pronounce them husband and wife or should I say husband and husband or wife or wife. Hahahaha.
They laughed and talked about everything. They went ahead to share their secrets "I once peed in a water bottle and placed in the bag of a bully. I used his own water bottle" Jae Won said but Vincent burst out laughing so hard that mist of tears formed in his eyes.
With a look 'did you actually did that?' written on his face. "Of course, I did and I'm proud of it still" he said as the stars began to twinkle above.
As they began walking home "what did you want to be if you had the chance?" Vincent asked, curiosity in his eyes as he stares blankly at every expression Jae Won made.
Jae Won sighed as he scratched his neck with nervousness "I wanted to be a photographer but my parents didn't allow me so I ended in business class so as my brother" Jae Won replied.
"Well that's sad. I've always loved wine and it's making as I was growing up and wanted to help my dad make wine that's why I ended up studying Oenology" he said "oh don't get me wrong I didn't drink when I was a kid and I still don't".
"And what's that?" Jae Won asked "why don't you go search for it. That would be better" he replied. They found themselves back at the porch swing while they sat together in silence thinking about God knows what.
Vincent reached out and took Jae Won's hand, he intertwined his fingers with Jae Won's in a gentle and affectionate grasp.
Jae Won's heart skipped a beat as always as he looked into Vincent's eyes and he felt a deep connection and so as affection. He knew this feeling was special and would carry with him even if he left to his country.
As the night drew close and the night was chilly as it was filled with love in the air from these two, Vincent slung his arm casually over Jae Won's shoulder as it was a normal thing to do but not Jae Won.
His heart beat unusually faster and his face, cheeks and ears were red as tomato. "Don't forget to text every morning and evening before you sleep and immediately after you wake up or else." Vincent said with a tease yet seriousness in his voice with a low and gentle feeling attached to it melting Jae Won's heart turning into liquid.
"And what are you going to do if I don't…." But he was shushed and Vincent face drew closer to his and with just an inch away their lips would be literally touching each other.
"Okay okay" Jae Won said and he nodded as he felt a pang of sadness that their time together wouldn't be like how it used to be. But as Jae Won looked up to Vincent, he saw something in Vincent's eyes that gave him hope. His eyes showed an affection with a glimmer of possibility that they could be together some day 'I'm gladly waiting for that day to come' he thought.
With a soft smile, Jae Won reached out and brushed off an invincible strand of hair on Vincent cheeks while Vincent heart pounding so hard out of his chest "I will text you every day no I will call you instead" Vincent blurted out even before he realized, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jae Won's eyes crinkled at the corner as he smiled beautifully, his face inches away from Vincent's and drew closer each by second while he stared blankly at Vincent's lips "sweet" he blurted out.
"What?" Vincent asked pulling Jae Won from his trance 'shit shit shit, that was close" Jae Won thought "I'm counting on it, he replied his voice in a low and husky just to cover up the nervousness that caught his throat.
"About your dream, why not start at somewhere like taking pictures whenever there is a chance. You can start by taking my pictures this evening" he said in an assured tone that encouraged Jae Won, he felt he could be anything he want as long as Vincent is there.
"You can even do it as part time as you still got to do what you love, isn't it?" Vincent said. Jae Won took out his phone and started taking pictures of Vincent in all sort of styles making Vincent laugh out loud as he was shy when it came to posing for pictures.
After a while, he took Vincent phone and asked him to also take pictures of him so they could both get a picture to look if they miss each other. Vincent did as he was told and took the pictures which looked so bad Jae Won had to edit it.
They run around the mansion in a playfully mode. They run as their laughter permeated the air through the mansion making Mrs Gladys bore to her bones as she was busy in a meeting at that time "this kids will kill me" she said as she went back to her meeting ignoring the noise.
Vincent suddenly stops in his tracks as Jae Won bumped into him and they fell down with their laugher still in the air. As they lied there, their gaze locked in tender, affectionate moment, "I'm really gonna miss you" Jae Won said again.
Vincent smiled back at what Jae Won said with a responsive glare towards Jae Won. Jae Won knew that's this could be the beginning of something special between them. Something that could bridge the distance between them as friendship and bring them closer as lovers.
And he was right because in the next two hours, something happened, something special that made Jae Won felt he was on top of the world.
But an unexpected happened shattering all his hope he had. This feeling made him regret that should have never happened.
