Chapter 49 - A Lifeline I Hadn't Know I Needed

The drive back home was a blur of streetlights and distant honking, but I barely registered any of it. My mind was drowning in the whirlwind of emotions Mily had stirred up—betrayal, anger, humiliation.

Letty didn't speak much, but her presence alone was comforti g. When we got inside, I kicked off my shoes and collapsed onto the couch, exhaustion seeping into my bones. Letty sat beside me, studying my face before sighing.

"You should get some rest," Letty said gently, her voice laced with concern. She reached out, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, her touch warm, and soothing. "You've been through a lot."

I shook my head, staring at the ceiling. Sleep wasn't coming. Not with everything replaying in my mind like a horror film on repeat, each scene sharper than the last, each betrayal cutting deeper.
