CALVIN'S POV
I stood in front of Lily's door, my heart pounding like a war drum in my chest.
I'd spent hours debating whether or not to appear.
I had called non-stop, texted and even used the company's email but she didn't respond to any.
I had no option but to come. Now all I'm wondering is if it was too late, if she would even listen to me.
But finally, I knew I had to face her to get answers so I took a deep breath and knocked.
A few moments passed, the door creaked open, and there she was. Arms crossed, face expressionless.
The sight of her hit me more forcefully than I expected.
"What do you need, Calvin?" she asked, her voice flat.
I swallowed hard, preparing myself to face her. "I need to speak to you. Please. Just listen to me for a couple of minutes."
She hesitated, then backed away. "You have five."
"Can I at least come in?"
"No."
