Though the fortress of Lüshun had suffered significant casualties, most losses had occurred during the battles of Dalian.

 The toll from the fortress defenses itself was fewer than 10,000. Considering that the majority of those losses were inexperienced recruits or cavalry border guards who had barely fired a weapon, the number was remarkably low. 

Moreover, the elite forces remained intact. In fact, the continuous battles had forged more seasoned soldiers, turning the fortress into an unmatched training ground. Lüshun was a crucible—only those who became elite survived.

"If we launch an offensive from the fortress, not just the Japanese 3rd Army but their other units will be forced to shift their focus," said Kondratenko.

"It's a sound plan despite the expected casualties. We have superior individual firearms and firepower, even if we're short on artillery," replied a subordinate.
