"Are you sure about this?" Rae asked Helena, pulling her from her thoughts.
She stood by the window of their small hotel room, watching as humans passed.
"Yeah, it's been a few months," Helena answered, her attention wasn't exactly on their conversation.
She watched as a family walked into the park across their hotel, in between them was a little boy who kept jumping and reaching out for his mother.
Helena couldn't help but think of the life she and Rae had left four months ago in Blackmoon. Of the love they'd abandoned just so that their people could have the leaders they deserved.
Helena jumped as she felt a hand land on her shoulder.
Her gaze snapped towards the person who had approached, but her gaze softened when she realized it was Rae.
"You're staring into space again," Rae said with a sad smile on her lips. "You know you didn't have to go with me."
"And let you run into the world knowing nothing?" Helena chuckled. "I wasn't going to let you do that."
