Chapter 82 - Ch 82 : Deploy

"…This is the story."

Still in the Fairy Tail guild's temporary base under construction, Jet stood in front of the temporary counter, recounting the events of the mission and the experiences of their team to Makarov and the gathered guild members without missing a word.

"Is that so? You've worked hard." After hearing Jet's story, Makarov said gravely to him, then closed his eyes and fell into deep thought.

"Guild Master, let's go quickly and bring Noel back!"

"Yes, Guild Master! Now that we know Noel is alright, let's hurry up and go get him."

"That's right, Fairy Tail never abandons a comrade!"

Seeing Makarov deep in thought, the guild members spoke up one after another, urging him.

Makarov made a silencing gesture, and everyone immediately stopped talking.

Slowly, he spoke: "Indeed, saving Noel is something we must do, but it's not that simple. Based on what Ishu said, we are very likely to end up fighting Noel directly."

"Oh, that sounds interesting." A loud, arrogant voice rang out.

Everyone turned to see Laxus, who had somehow appeared nearby.

He stood with his arms crossed, a look of eager anticipation on his face.

"Then leave it to me. I'll definitely beat him and bring him back, Grandpa."

Makarov shook his head. "Laxus, if it were the usual Noel, you could handle him, but the Noel now is not someone you can defeat on your own."

"What!"

"I'm not lying." Seeing the disbelief on Laxus's face, Makarov continued, "Because, even if Noel hasn't fully recovered, he's probably already stepped into a realm that ordinary people cannot touch."

"What do you mean by a realm that ordinary people cannot touch?" Gray furrowed his brows and asked.

"I'm not sure myself, but if I had to estimate, Noel's current power is probably over ten times greater than what you all are familiar with. And that's a conservative estimate," Makarov said, his face unchanged as he spoke words that shocked everyone.

"What!!"

"You're kidding, right? More than ten times!!"

"Are you joking?"

Everyone was stunned.

In their understanding, Noel's strength was already incredibly terrifying and powerful.

Now Makarov was saying that Noel's strength was at least ten times greater than before?

If anyone else had said this, they would've thought that person was crazy.

"How is that possible? Wasn't Noel already a Ten Saint Wizards before? How powerful must he be now?" Gray said from the side.

"At this rate, how could we possibly win if we fight Noel?"

"Oh, Noel's so strong, I'm all fired up." Anyone who heard this would know it was Natsu.

Makarov nodded. "That's also my concern. Even if everyone goes, I'm not confident we can defeat Noel and bring him back."

"Regardless of what happens, even if there's no hope, I will go alone. I will definitely bring Noel back," Erza, who had been silent up until now, said with a determined expression.

The others didn't speak, but their faces showed the same resolve.

Makarov scratched what little hair he had left, then tossed his cane aside, standing up and shouting, "It's decided! No matter what, we'll go and bring Noel back. Fairy Tail never abandons its family!"

"Yeah!" Everyone cheered in unison.

"This mission doesn't require too many people. Besides Jet, Natsu, Gray, Erza, and Lucy, you four are in the same team as Noel, so you'll join the mission directly. Also, Elfman, Cana, you two should prepare as well. We'll leave in the afternoon together."

There weren't many objections to this decision, as these were indeed the strongest members in the Fairy Tail guild at the moment.

After agreeing, the six people named left the guild to go back to their homes and prepare.

Makarov turned his gaze to Laxus: "Laxus, are you joining this mission?"

"Hmph, of course. But I'll be the one to defeat Noel alone," Laxus snorted, then transformed into a bolt of yellow lightning and vanished.

Without paying much attention to Laxus's tone, Makarov nodded.

After dismissing the other guild members, he suddenly felt someone tugging at his clothes.

"Master..." Makarov turned to see Mira, her face filled with concern.

"What's wrong, Mira?"

After taking a deep breath, Mira said, "Master, I want to go too."

"No," Makarov refused immediately without hesitation.

"I know you're worried about Noel, but you know your current condition. What would happen if something goes wrong?"

"...Even so, I want to go," Mira said, lowering her head as she spoke softly.

"Since Lisanna's death, I've been running away... But now, I don't want to continue like this. I... I need to save Noel. Whether you allow it or not, I'm going."

Makarov looked at Mira, whose expression was filled with determination.

For a moment, he seemed to sense that the magic within Mira, which had been dormant, was beginning to stir.

After a pause, Makarov finally nodded, "Alright, but when we fight Noel, you must stay back."

"Mm," Mira smiled.

---------------

In the afternoon, the group gathered in front of the Magnolia station.

However, their gazes all subconsciously focused on the white-haired girl in black attire, carrying luggage, who had arrived with Elfman.

"Miss Mira, are you going too?" Lucy asked hesitantly.

This question reflected everyone's thoughts.

Even though Mira used to be an S-Class Mage, she had lost most of her magical power, so it was puzzling to everyone that she would join such a potentially dangerous mission.

"Yes, I'm going this time too," Mira answered with a smile, but didn't offer further explanation.

Although everyone found it a bit strange, since Mira didn't explain further, they didn't press the issue.

Especially after receiving Mira's confirmation, Natsu shifted his gaze and began looking around, shaking his head.

"Natsu, what are you looking for?" Happy asked.

"Master and Laxus haven't arrived yet," Natsu said after looking around for a while.

"Yeah, the train's departure time is coming soon..." Jet, who was responsible for leading the way, also looked puzzled.

Not long after Jet finished speaking, an elderly voice came from nearby: "Sorry, sorry... I'm late."

Everyone turned their gaze to see Makarov, dressed in his Saint Ten robes, walking over.

"Master, you're so slow."

"Is something wrong, Master?"

Hearing everyone's questions, Makarov frowned in annoyance and said, "It's nothing, it's just that Laxus insisted on going alone. I tried to convince him, but I wasn't successful, so it delayed the time."

Everyone understood at once.

It made sense.

Given Laxus' proud personality, it would be strange if he were to team up with anyone in the guild other than the Thunder Legion.

And although he didn't say it out loud, Laxus likely couldn't accept Makarov's statement that he couldn't defeat Noel right now.

"Since everyone is here, let's get moving," Erza said.

"Yeah," Makarov replied.
