White light and golden lightning clashed repeatedly, their battle wreaking havoc upon the entire Kardia Cathedral.
Deep cracks ran through the ground and walls, marking the devastation left in their wake.
"[Piercing Beam!]" A beam of light shot forth from his hand, colliding with the incoming lightning, canceling each other out with a series of explosive bursts, sending waves of smoke into the air.
Noel and Laxus stood facing each other, their gazes locked.
Since this was the first time Noel had used magic in battle after losing his memory, he was still unfamiliar with the intricacies of Holy Light Magic.
Though he was rapidly regaining control due to it being his own power, he had nonetheless been at a disadvantage throughout the fight, completely suppressed by Laxus.
"Noel… show me your real strength! Are you underestimating me?!"
"What?"
"The power you had back then—where is it?! Why aren't you using that power?!"
Lightning crackled furiously around Laxus, seemingly mirroring the intense frustration and resentment surging within him.
"I want to fight you at full power. Are you treating this as a mere game?!"
Noel lightly shifted his footing, effortlessly dodging Laxus's lightning strikes.
Noticing how Laxus occasionally glanced at the magical text floating in the air, Noel gently shook his head and said, "I don't really understand what you're talking about, but I can tell you're anxious. The time until Thunder Palace activates… it must be running out, isn't it?"
"Hah, what are you talking about? If anyone should be anxious, it should be you, Noel," Laxus responded with disdain.
Noel scratched his cheek and smiled. "No, I'm not worried at all, because nothing is going to happen."
"What did you just say?"
"You don't really want to see the city destroyed, do you? There's no turning back now, so you're getting desperate, aren't you?"
Laxus's gaze sharpened instantly as he glared at Noel with a fierce expression.
"It's fine, because Erza and Natsu will stop it from happening," Noel said with absolute confidence.
There was no reason behind his belief—he simply trusted them from the bottom of his heart.
Without waiting for Laxus to respond, Noel dashed forward like a shooting star, his clenched fist glowing white and leaving a trail of light behind as he threw a powerful punch.
Laxus tilted his body slightly, narrowly avoiding Noel's strike.
At the same time, he swung his arm, aiming a punch at Noel's face.
But at that very moment, he caught a glimpse of the faint smile at the corner of Noel's lips.
His instincts screamed at him, and an ominous premonition flashed through his mind.
He immediately stepped back, just as he was about to put some distance between them—
"Too late. Eternal Light: Simplified," Noel said softly.
Suddenly, two massive white magic circles, each over ten meters in diameter, appeared—one in the air and one on the ground—trapping both Laxus and Noel within them.
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted, loud enough to rupture eardrums.
Along with the blast, Laxus was sent flying backward.
His purple clothing was instantly torn apart, and though he barely managed to regain his balance and land on his feet, he looked undeniably disheveled.
"It's about time you got serious, Laxus. Your strength isn't just that much, is it?"
Landing gracefully without a scratch, Noel remained calm as he gazed at Laxus, his expression unwavering.
At that moment, the magical script floating in midair suddenly disappeared.
Laxus froze for a moment before his expression twisted in fury—he knew exactly what this meant.
The Thunder Palace had been destroyed.
His entire plan had collapsed.
"See? Didn't I tell you? Nothing was going to happen," Noel said with a calm smile.
Laxus didn't respond, but his face grew increasingly dark and stormy.
"AHHHHH!!!"
A beast-like roar erupted from Laxus's throat, and an immense pillar of lightning shot up from the ground.
Wild, untamed magical energy crackled violently, raging uncontrollably as fierce winds swept through the surroundings.
"Hahahaha! Yeah, that's right! I never needed any of those damn plans in the first place! I should've relied on this power from the start! Overwhelming power—that's what befits someone like me!!!"
As Laxus bellowed, his muscles swelled, bulging and expanding rapidly.
Within seconds, his entire body doubled in size.
Raising a hand to shield himself from the violent shockwaves and magical pressure, Noel's expression grew serious.
He could feel it—Laxus's magical power was surging to an entirely new level.
If his strength had been like a calm ocean before, then now it was a raging, all-consuming storm.
"Going all out now, huh?" Noel muttered to himself as the white light surrounding his body grew even brighter.
"I suppose it's about time. After all, I've gotten familiar enough with my magic in our fight so far… Now, I should go all out too."
"Noel, if you don't use your full strength, you'll never defeat me. [Thunder Dragon's Roar]!!!"
Laxus leaned back, then suddenly opened his mouth wide.
A massive sphere of lightning, glowing yellow with tinges of blue, shot out from his mouth, streaking toward Noel with the force of a raging storm.
Noel took a deep breath and raised both hands. "[Holy Sword of Light]!!"
A gigantic, sword-shaped beam of light erupted from Noel's hands.
The sheer force of it tore through the air, producing a series of deafening shockwaves as it traveled.
The two immense attacks collided in midair, unleashing a chain of violent explosions.
The entire Kardia Cathedral trembled under the shock, as if crying out in silent agony from being caught in the crossfire.
Before the smoke and dust could even settle, Noel's figure flickered—he had already dashed straight toward Laxus.
The moment Laxus caught sight of Noel, Noel's fist, glowing with radiant white light, was already inches from his face.
Gritting his teeth, Laxus didn't choose to dodge or defend.
Instead, his own fist, crackling with surging lightning, came hurtling forward—aiming directly for Noel's face.
"Boom!"
At such close range, neither of them could evade in time.
Their fists landed squarely on each other's faces, sending both flying backward.
However, Noel was the one who suffered more.
Having lost his memories, he had naturally forgotten—lightning carried a paralyzing effect.
The moment Laxus' punch connected, a numbing shock coursed through Noel's body, causing a brief moment of stiffness.
Laxus seized that instant of vulnerability, his leg infused with magic energy, delivering a powerful kick straight into Noel's abdomen.
"Bang!"
Noel was sent flying, crashing heavily against the wall.
The impact left a web of cracks spreading across the surface, and his body was once again paralyzed.
Laxus flipped backward to stabilize himself, then pushed off the ground with force, dashing toward Noel.
"Disappear! Disappear!! [Thunder Dragon's Crushing Fist]!!"
Laxus' fist, brimming with immense magical power, slammed into Noel's frail-looking body.
Like a cannonball, Noel was blasted backward at high speed, shattering one of the cathedral's columns on impact.
Slowly, Noel stood up.
His blue coat had been completely torn apart in the battle.
He paid no mind to it, casually tossing the tattered remains aside.
Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, he locked his sharp gaze onto Laxus.
The white light surrounding his hands flared even brighter.
(Damn, that hurts like hell. This bastard isn't holding back at all, huh?)
Feeling the searing pain across his body, Noel couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.
