Upon receiving the transmission, the Shinigami who had rushed to Sōkyoku Hill stood frozen, their eyes fixed on the ominous scene unfolding in the distance.
A massive black rift had torn open in the sky, and from its depths emerged dozens of Menos Grande. Simultaneously, two golden beams of light descended from above.
Moments later, a dark thundercloud loomed over Seireitei. Amidst the flashes of lightning and the rolling thunder, an enormous shadow of a black sword materialized in the sky.
Countless eerie and bone-chilling wails echoed across Seireitei. But for the officers and squad members who had battled Hollows before, they recognized the sound well—it was the death cry of a vanquished Hollow.
The black rift and the massive dark sword filled them with an overwhelming sense of dread, suffocating in its intensity.
"Hollows... Menos Grande... By the Soul King, how many of them are there?!"
"Why is this happening?!"
"The notice we received stated that Captain Aizen was not only alive but had turned traitor."
"Could there be a connection between these events?"
The Shinigami stationed at Sōkyoku Hill murmured among themselves, bewildered and unsettled.
Seireitei, usually a bastion of peace and order, was now anything but.
Though it was not quite a vision of hell on earth, the sheer scale of the chaos was enough to terrify even the strongest warriors.
Even the residents of Rukongai, far removed from the heart of Seireitei, had taken notice of the ominous spectacle in the sky. All eyes were locked onto the thunderclouds that shrouded Seireitei, and the massive black rift splitting the heavens apart.
The lightning flashes grew brighter, and the deafening roar of thunder grew louder.
With each new Hollow's death scream reverberating through the air, nearly everyone had begun to believe that Aizen's scheme had collapsed.
Aaron watched as the Gillians disappeared back into the rift, nodding in satisfaction.
From below, all who stood upon the ground stared at the surreal, incomprehensible scene unfolding before them.
Even Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto—who had witnessed the long history of Soul Society—could not help but turn his gaze, his eyes betraying a rare flicker of disbelief.
For what had just transpired before them was beyond all reason.
First, a massive black rift had torn open in the sky. Then, Aizen Sōsuke and Tōsen Kaname had been enveloped by a Negación field.
The entire Gotei 13 had been powerless to stop them from escaping.
And yet, the situation had now completely reversed.
Aaron alone had not only repelled the Menos Grande emerging from the rift but had also, through some unknown method, disrupted the Negación protecting Aizen and Tōsen, nullifying its effect entirely.
Gasps and exclamations filled the air.
"How is this possible?!"
"That was Negación!"
"Head Captain... how did he do that?!"
"This is insane! Is he even human?!"
Yamamoto's initial shock slowly faded, though his eyes still held a strange gleam of intrigue.
Kurosaki Ichigo, witnessing the astonishing events before him, stood in stunned silence, his mind seemingly frozen.
All around, expressions varied—some of awe, others of disbelief.
Meanwhile, Aizen and Tōsen were not immune to the shock. Their once unshakable composure had been shattered, their faces painted with rare traces of panic. They had never imagined the situation would spiral this far out of their control.
Especially Aizen.
Though the Negación's disappearance had not hindered his ability to stand upon the air, for the first time in centuries, he found himself at a loss for words.
"Aizen," Aaron addressed him calmly, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. "Answer my question."
But Aizen, uncharacteristically speechless, simply stood there, eyes wide, retreating instinctively as if searching for solid ground to lean against—only to remember that he was floating in the sky.
"Why... why is this happening?" Aizen stammered, his usual calculated demeanor shattered, replaced by an unmistakable tremor of helplessness and fear.
Komamura Sajin, who had fallen earlier, suddenly forced himself to stand despite his injuries. Ignoring the stunned gazes directed at him, he lifted his head and bellowed, "Tōsen! Why?! Tell me why!
Does the justice you once believed in no longer exist?!
Have you forgotten the oath you swore when you became a Shinigami?!
Answer me! Tōsen Kaname!"
Though Tōsen's expression was tinged with panic, there was also something else—relief.
Though blind, his acute spiritual awareness allowed him to perceive everything around him. In his mind, he could still form a picture of the reactions of those present.
He did not answer immediately, his brows furrowing in deep thought.
"Aizen! Answer me!" Aaron's smile faded, his eyes growing cold, piercing through Aizen as if seeing through every layer of his being.
Aizen, shaking off his earlier shock, suddenly started laughing.
"Hahaha...
The most prodigious genius in Soul Society's history.
My most revered mentor.
Since the moment I set my sights on surpassing you, what have you been doing?
Pretending to teach and guide others?
Or have you convinced yourself that you can see through everything, playing your little game of omniscience?
You have no idea what it feels like to know you can never surpass someone.
Nor will you ever understand the ecstasy of seizing an opportunity that places you above all others.
What comes effortlessly to you takes others a thousand times the effort to achieve.
What is meaningless to you is an unattainable dream for many.
I admit it—you are strong. Strong enough to make me despair at times.
But you will never comprehend the depth of my centuries of meticulous planning.
And yet, it was all worth it.
Because now, I have the Hōgyoku.
Now, I hold the power to surpass all limits."
Aaron regarded Aizen with an unfazed expression, and then—unexpectedly—he smiled again.
He nodded slightly. "If I didn't know better, I might actually find that speech moving."
Then he turned away slightly, shaking his head. "But you may go. After all... I am quite curious to see how far you will go."
Without warning, Aaron's figure blurred into an afterimage, descending rapidly toward the ground.
Aizen hadn't expected Aaron to simply let him leave.
Grinding his teeth, he turned to Tōsen. "Tōsen, we're leaving."
Tōsen hesitated briefly before vanishing alongside Aizen into the black rift.
Aaron landed smoothly, glancing toward Yoruichi and Ichigo, offering them a small nod and a smirk.
But then—
A black shadow streaked toward him with terrifying killing intent.
