Chapter 50: The Past We Carry
Ines' body tensed at Riot's words.
"What do you mean, 'and about your sister'?" she asked, her voice sounded more strict, suspicious.
Riot remained relaxed, but his eyes stayed locked onto hers, calculating his next words.
"My job isn't just babysitting you, sweetheart. It's about knowing who wants to hurt you and why." He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"Your sister? She's a person of interest."
Ines' heart pounded. "To who?"
"To the same people watching Raphael," Riot said evenly. "She's been poking around, asking questions she shouldn't."
Ines swallowed hard.
Camila was stubborn, relentless—traits they shared. But she never thought Camila wouldn't be mixed up in this mess.
She's the one who would stab Ines even if she was dead on the floor.
"You're sure?"
Riot shrugged. "I don't say things I'm not sure about."
Ines sat back, rubbing her temples. "Great. This…That's great."
