The vendors recoiled, startled by the sudden interference, their arms outstretched with goods still dangling in their hands. A few realized they'd been crowding the poor kid and backed away, but unfortunately, Auri was not threatening enough to make all of them stop with his words.
"Don't get in our way, outlander," one vendor snapped, his lips curled into a sneer. "We're just offering options!"
"That's right," another one barked. "Kid looks like he's well-off. What's a couple of extra coins to him?"
"You back off! We're trying to make a living here!"
Small hands wrapped around his leg as the crowd grew more aggressive.
"Making a living?" Auri gasped in disbelief, resting a protective hand on the child's shoulder. "By what? By taking advantage of a kid who barely knows the value of money? Wait, is this how you do your business here? One shiny coin and you all go feral like wild animals?"
