Chapter 13 - Unreplaceable Servant

SLASH!

A sword swung at the person in front of him until the person fell down, due to the deep wound caused by the sword's swing.

SPLASH!

However, Seira did not feel any pain and she thought it was because it happened too fast that she did not feel the pain.

However, when she opened her eyes she was surprised to see that the man who had almost killed her had fallen to the floor with a deep wound. The man whimpered in pain and the friend next to him was also surprised to see who had done that.

"That... Those are the knights?!" said the man who was surprised to see Harvey and the others in front of them right now.

At that very moment, Harvey stared at him. He looked so angry, because the man and his friend dared to enter their mansion when they were not at home.

"How dare you enter our mansion. Who do you think you are to set foot in our place?!" asked Albert as he drew his bloodied sword.

"So this really is your mansion? We really didn't know this was your mansion! Please forgive us!" they said as they begged and endured the pain of the severe injuries received by one of the two thieves.

However, they did not answer his question. Harvey then immediately grabbed Seira's hand, pulling her towards him.

With his right hand wrapped around her waist, he held Seira's body as if protecting her.

Seira was quite surprised by Harvey's sudden and unexpected move. She didn't know why, even when she had been living together with him for so long, but until now it was difficult for her to read his mind.

'Why is he hugging me like this? Even his hand are wrapped around my waist like he doesn't want to let go?' Seira thought at the time.

From such a close distance, even until her body touched his chest. She could hear his heartbeat, which was beating normally like a very healthy person.

It was just that Seira's face was slightly flushed, because of what Harvey had done.

Harvey then ordered Albert and Leonard to take the two thieves out of the mansion and kill them. He didn't want any more blood in the kitchen.

"Take them out and kill them, because I don't want to see them still hanging around and getting more people into trouble!" he ordered.

The two thieves begged him not to kill them, but Harvey didn't care and asked them to be taken away immediately.

"Are you okay?" he asked her.

"Yes, I'm fine. You can let go of me now," Seira replied with her hand still attached to the man's chest.

He let her go, then looked at her reddened wrists. Harvey tugged gently on Seira's hand, even to the point of making Seira disbelieve that the man could even treat her gently like that.

"They did it?"

But she immediately pulled her hand away, saying that it was just a normal scar because the two thieves had tied her wrist. So Seira tried to loosen the ties, causing her arms to hurt from rubbing against the rough rope.

"It's just a normal wound, there's no need for you to treat me like it's a serious wound," the woman replied.

"I don't think it's serious," Harvey replied. "But I just don't want a hand injury to give you an excuse not to do your job."

'So that's what you're worried about?' she thought as she frowned and then sighed softly.

"Don't worry, I won't use this as an excuse to not do the main job. I'll still do it as usual so you don't have to think about it," Seira replied in her usual tone.

Hearing that, somehow Harvey's serious and stern face instantly seemed to soften and felt relieved when he heard it.

"Good then, you were brave enough to fight those two thieves. Even defending yourself in a bad situation like this."

Seira replied that this was the right thing to do. She was doing this not to protect the Mansion but herself. She didn't want to die a silly death just because two thieves came and didn't even know it was the Mansion of the Emperor's three dogs.

"You have good instincts, and your survival instincts are pretty good too for that. You fought them off with what you had in this room." Harvey looked around him, seeing the few items damaged by the thieving sword swung at her.

"Aren't you angry? Seeing all the things in the kitchen get damaged like this," Sera asked to which he replied with a shake of his head.

He thought it was much better if he lost the items in the kitchen and he could replace them with new ones than having to lose Seira as a maid and replace her with a new servant.

"I'm sick enough of replacing existing servants, especially if I've already gotten a good feel for what you're doing. You do a good job, cook good food and do everything deftly. That's enough for me," Harvey replied.

Seira knew that he had a hard time trusting people, which was probably why he didn't want to get a new maid and have to repeat that trust again with a maid who didn't necessarily have the same abilities as her.

In other words, Harvey was saying that Seira was irreplaceable and he didn't want to replace her at any point. He wanted Seira to stay with him as a servant he could trust.

'That means I've earned his trust?' the woman thought as she looked at Harvey who was looking at her.

That look again, that look that she still couldn't understand. But Seira knew that Harvey must be thinking something about her, especially who she really was.

The next night, right at midnight when Seira had made sure everyone was asleep. She walked out of the mansion to the backyard which was close to the forest. The woman climbed over the fence surrounding the mansion while carrying a lantern.

Walking briefly into the forest, she heard someone walking behind her and stood there.

Without turning around, Seira could tell who the man was and she immediately took out a scroll of the letter she had written the night before.

"Give this to her, make sure she reads this letter and I wonder what her answer will be."
