Sorayah's heart skipped a beat as she stumbled backward, her breath catching in her throat. The dagger she had plunged into Dimitri's chest remained embedded in his flesh, but he did not fall.
Instead, he rose.
With an unnatural swiftness, Dimitri surged upright from the bed, his towering frame casting an ominous shadow over her. Panic flared through Sorayah as she took another step back only to misstep. A startled gasp left her lips as she lost her footing, crashing onto the cold, unyielding floor.
