Nisaka opened his eyes again, staring intently at Tsunade, his teeth clenched, his body trembling, but he remained silent.
The die-hard loyalists of Amegakure were infamous! This had a lot to do with the environment of Amegakure—they had all been thoroughly brainwashed.
Jiraiya stood expressionless to the side, his fists clenched tightly, his gaze lowered as he glared at the stubborn Nisaka. He looked like he was ready to kill him at any moment! His close friend had died, and his entire demeanor had changed because of it.
"If you don't talk, I'll break every bone in your body without letting you die. I'll make sure you suffer endlessly…" Tsunade's voice was like the whisper of a demon.
Still, Nisaka endured in silence. It was unclear what he was holding onto.
"Step aside, let me do it," Haruto Saito finally spoke, unable to keep watching. He gave Tsunade a slight push.
Tsunade turned to glare at Haruto, as if warning him not to interfere.
"You're not going to get anything out of him this way. If he isn't even afraid of death, why would he be afraid of pain? He's already in agony from his wounds, and giving him more pain will only make him pass out faster. What's the point? Move aside!" Haruto pushed Tsunade again.
Tsunade hesitated, then stepped aside—or rather, she willingly gave way. Haruto had a point. She didn't have a better method, so she might as well let him try.
"Brat, don't kill him!" Tsunade warned, crossing her arms as she stood next to Jiraiya.
"Leave it to me," Haruto said with absolute confidence.
Nisaka was momentarily stunned. Why… was Tsunade calling the Black Warrior "brat"?
Haruto crouched beside Nisaka, leaning in slightly. He gazed at Nisaka's face without moving.
Nisaka couldn't see Haruto's face clearly—it was shrouded in a misty darkness.
Time passed…
Haruto had been staring at Nisaka for three minutes. Nisaka, in turn, was fixated on the black mist in front of Haruto's face, as if trying to peer through it. But he couldn't. His consciousness was beginning to blur, waves of exhaustion washing over him. His body felt weak, and under the weight of his fatigue, even the pain from his wounds seemed to fade.
Haruto observed everything closely, noting the subtle changes in Nisaka's eyes and the way his facial muscles relaxed. From these small details, he could judge Nisaka's current state.
The timing was perfect!
Haruto suddenly raised his hand.
Snap!
A sharp snapping sound rang out. Nisaka's attention was instinctively drawn to it. The moment his gaze shifted toward Haruto's hand, Haruto opened his palm, revealing a small pendant hanging from his fingers.
It swayed… back and forth… back and forth…
"You're tired… You need to rest… Close your eyes… Close your eyes… Close your eyes… Your arms and legs feel heavy, don't they? Relax your arms… Relax your legs… Relax… Let your whole body relax… It feels good, doesn't it? Relax your leg muscles… Relax your arms… Your entire body is light… It's as if you're drifting into the void… Everything is peaceful… You can only hear my voice…"
Haruto's voice carried an eerie, hypnotic power. Nisaka's gaze remained locked onto the swaying pendant as his eyelids slowly drooped shut.
Jiraiya's eyes widened in disbelief. He had never seen anything like this before! Haruto hadn't used any chakra—it all looked so simple, and the words he spoke didn't seem particularly complex either. Yet, Nisaka was behaving as if he had been completely enthralled, his breathing becoming steady and even.
Tsunade, on the other hand, glared at Haruto. She opened her mouth a few times as if she wanted to speak but ultimately stayed silent.
She knew Haruto was skilled in hypnosis. Seeing it happen in person was certainly astonishing, but that wasn't the issue!
What was the point of hypnotizing this guy?
What did this achieve?!
If she didn't know that interrupting a hypnosis session could ruin everything, she would've already spoken up.
"A dream… is not real. In a dream, you can do anything… You don't have to worry about consequences… You don't have to betray your beliefs… You can relax… Let yourself go…" Haruto whispered softly into Nisaka's ear, his voice strangely gentle yet unsettling.
Tsunade frowned. Haruto had taught her some basic hypnosis techniques before, but she had never heard him say anything like this.
"You see the sunlight… You see the light… You see the divine presence… You reach out to embrace it… You listen… This is a dream, an endless dream… You feel at peace, don't you? You're so familiar with this feeling… So comfortable… Don't ask who I am… Just answer my questions… Who are you?"
At the precise moment he asked, Haruto snapped his fingers again.
This time, the sound was sharp but not as loud as before.
Nisaka's eyelashes fluttered. He seemed to be waking up, but the sound had caught him just at the right moment—keeping him aware but preventing him from fully regaining consciousness.
"Who are you?" Haruto repeated.
"Ni… saka…" Nisaka murmured. In his half-dreaming state, he instinctively responded. He still believed he was in a dream.
"Where are you from?" Haruto asked.
"Amegakure… Second… Division…"
"Who hurt you?"
"Konoha… Konoha… ninjas…"
"What happened?"
"Ambush… Encounter… We were searching… searching for the Black Warrior… ran into… Konoha ninjas…"
"When did this happen? Morning? Noon? Afternoon?"
"Afternoon…"
"How many Konoha ninjas were there?"
"Sixty… more than sixty…"
"And how many of you were there?"
"Three hundred… twenty…"
"Do you know why they came to the Land of Rain?"
"Yes… I know…"
"Why?"
"They were… looking for… Tsunade… Jiraiya…"
Tsunade and Jiraiya's expressions changed at the same time. So, they were here specifically for them. That meant Konoha had received intelligence and sent a team to rendezvous. But something still felt off—why had Konoha's reinforcements arrived in the Land of Rain so quickly?
Haruto also paused for a moment, then asked, "How do you know they were looking for Tsunade and Jiraiya?"
"Intel… analysis… Their captain… Orochimaru…"
Orochimaru was leading the team!
Tsunade and Jiraiya exchanged glances, immediately realizing the same thing—they needed to find Orochimaru and regroup! Tsunade raised a hand, deliberately making a soft noise to get Haruto's attention, then started making complex hand signals.
Pointing here, gesturing there—her movements were intricate and detailed.
Haruto, however, had absolutely no clue what she was trying to say.
Rolling his eyes at her, he turned back to Nisaka. "Which direction did they come from? And where were they heading?"
"They came from the south… heading north…"
"Good. You're tired… You need to rest… Relax your whole body… Empty your thoughts… You're so tired… So tired… Sleep now…" Haruto whispered softly into Nisaka's ear for a while longer. Soon, Nisaka's breathing became completely steady.
Snap!
Haruto snapped his fingers once more, this time even quieter.
Nisaka didn't react at all.
"It's done. As long as we don't make too much noise, he won't wake up," Haruto said in a low voice, standing up to face Tsunade and Jiraiya.
The two of them stared at him, their expressions filled with disbelief—like they were looking at a ghost!
No chakra. No special techniques. Yet, he had completely taken control of someone's mind and made them answer every question without hesitation.
This skill…
Was beyond extraordinary!
