Chapter 150 - Chapter 150

Haruto Saito felt a slight sense of disappointment as he examined the contents of the scroll. The forbidden technique recorded inside was not the Space-Time Ninjutsu, the Flying Thunder God Technique, but rather another S-rank forbidden technique created by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju—Chakra Sensing!

As expected, Hiruzen Sarutobi would not easily hand over the Flying Thunder God Technique as a reward. In fact, it could be said that such a technique would never be given as a reward to just anyone. As Tsunade had mentioned before, it was only taught to those deemed worthy, as mastering the Flying Thunder God Technique required an extremely high talent in Space-Time Ninjutsu.

Still, even though Haruto was disappointed, Chakra Sensing was an incredible technique!

This was a highly advanced sensory technique with terrifying capabilities!

In the original history, during the First Shinobi World War, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, had used this technique to accurately detect the number and strength of the Kinkaku and Ginkaku forces that were pursuing him. The technique did not require hand seals; it used the ground as a medium, allowing the user to sense the life force and chakra strength of their targets with just two fingers touching the earth.

The most frightening aspect of this technique was its known maximum sensing range—over a thousand kilometers!

That was truly terrifying!

If applied to tracking or counter-tracking, its utility would be immeasurable!

The scroll was quite lengthy, filled with dense text...

Haruto studied it carefully, committing it to memory as quickly as possible. He had only one hour to memorize everything. He had to prioritize memorizing the training method first before considering anything else.

Chakra Sensing was an energy-based perception technique, differing from spiritual perception and solid-object perception. Whether the technique could be successfully performed and to what extent its effects could be utilized depended entirely on the user's ability to control energy—or rather, their ability to control their own chakra.

Of course, the most important factor was having a natural talent for sensing!

Tobirama Senju possessed this talent. He had an extraordinary sense from a young age and had once secretly followed Hashirama Senju without being detected.

As for Haruto's sensing talent... it wasn't particularly special. His abilities did not come from innate talent.

However, in the eyes of Tsunade and others, Haruto appeared to possess a high level of sensory talent. Back in the Land of Rain, he had demonstrated his ability multiple times, including his uncanny ability to predict outcomes. Haruto could easily imagine that the reason Hiruzen Sarutobi had given him the Chakra Sensing technique, rather than awarding it to someone else, was likely because Tsunade had spoken to Hiruzen about his apparent talent in this area.

It only took Haruto half an hour to memorize the entire contents of the scroll.

Still, he wasn't entirely confident, so he quickly reviewed it twice more, ensuring that he had not missed anything. Only then did he take the scroll outside and destroy it in advance.

Upon returning to his room, Haruto calmed his mind and began to contemplate and train.

No matter what, this was an extremely practical and valuable technique! Moreover, at present, no one else in the ninja world knew this technique. This meant that Haruto couldn't acquire a card drop of this technique by eliminating anyone, nor could he learn it from someone else. His only options were to obtain it from the reputation shop or through random card draws. The former would require an astronomical amount of reputation points, while the latter depended on sheer luck—both of which were highly impractical.

For now, he needed to try learning it. Such a rare and powerful sensory technique could not be passed up.

If his talent turned out to be inadequate and he couldn't even manage the basic entry-level mastery, then he would have to seek out a ninja with strong sensory abilities, discuss the training method with them, and learn from their experiences. By doing so, Haruto could gain the corresponding card fragments.

Time passed.

By the time night had fallen, Haruto had been training for several hours but had yet to gain any insight into Chakra Sensing. This was normal—after all, it was an S-rank forbidden technique that required exceptional sensory talent to master. He wasn't in a rush.

"Hey, kid! Come down for dinner."

Suddenly, Haruto heard Tsunade's voice calling out to him.

She had returned and was downstairs in the hall. She had even brought back food for him.

Time flew by, and five days quickly passed.

Today was the day Haruto was supposed to officially become Hiruzen Sarutobi's apprentice. A formal ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Hokage Building at noon. Normally, a ninja accepting a student or a student taking a mentor was a simple matter, often just settled with a few words and without any unnecessary formalities.

However, the situation was entirely different when the one accepting a disciple was Hiruzen Sarutobi!

Because he was the Hokage! Moreover, he had ruled over Konoha for more than a decade, possessing unprecedented prestige and authority. His decision to take on a personal disciple was not merely his private affair—it was an event of great significance to the entire village!

However, this was a special time. The war could break out at any moment, and Hiruzen had suddenly decided to take in a personal disciple—one who was a rogue ninja from the Land of Rain. Given these circumstances, many people speculated that there was a deeper meaning behind this decision.

That morning, at Tsunade's residence, inside the guest room.

Haruto sat cross-legged on his bed, still engrossed in studying Chakra Sensing. Over the past five days, he had dedicated nearly all his time to this endeavor and had already made some progress.

His talent in this area was quite astonishing!

Haruto had even asked the Card Emperor Spirit whether his proficiency in Frequency Perception was the reason why his training was going so smoothly.

He received an affirmative answer!

The Card Emperor Spirit had explained that because Haruto had obtained Frequency Perception, his fundamental sensory capabilities had been permanently enhanced. This had, in turn, improved his overall sensory talent. In other words, after gaining Frequency Perception, his natural ability to sense things had been heightened!

This revelation excited Haruto!

Frequency Perception had come from a magic card!

And he still had two unused magic cards! He had been waiting for the right time and opportunity to use them, as magic cards carried great uncertainty and could potentially trigger system tasks. Therefore, his plan was to wait until after the official apprentice ceremony, when he was sure he wouldn't be occupied with other matters, before using the magic cards. Additionally, he also had an unused treasure card!

The guest room was silent. Haruto's breathing was steady, and he remained motionless.

Poof!

A puff of white smoke appeared in the corner of the room, and Tsunade materialized out of thin air.

"Hey! Didn't I tell you not to disturb me?" Haruto opened his eyes immediately, glancing at Tsunade.

"Tch, brat, don't flatter yourself. It's not like I want to come looking for you." Tsunade raised an eyebrow in annoyance before quickly getting serious. "I'm not here to argue with you—I have important news."

"What is it?" Haruto blinked and asked.

"The apprentice ceremony that was scheduled for noon today has been temporarily canceled," Tsunade said.

"Huh? Why? Did the Hokage change his mind?" Haruto frowned. Was his golden opportunity slipping away?

"It's only temporary," Tsunade clarified. "Something unexpected happened."

"A large diplomatic delegation has just arrived in the village. Because the Hokage needs to receive them, the ceremony has been postponed."

"Oh… I see." Haruto immediately lost interest and waved his hand at Tsunade, signaling for her to leave. He then closed his eyes again.

However, Tsunade's expression grew more serious, and her tone darkened. "This concerns you. The delegation is from the Land of Iron, and their general, Mifune, has personally come. It's very likely that they are here because of the Black Samurai Armor!"
