"Commander Sato, should we order an evacuation?" Lieutenant Yota's voice trembled in the Hokkaido Command Center. "The operation has failed. Godzilla's aerial attack destroyed our remaining vehicles. We've lost our ability to direct its attention."
Commander Sato's eyes remained fixed on the tactical display. "No. Continue the operation. How many units survived the attack?"
"Sir, with respect," Yota protested, "we don't have enough firepower to divert Godzilla's attention anymore. Just humans alone—"
"Humans alone are enough," Sato cut him off sharply. His voice softened as he continued, "This operation was never guaranteed success. Did you know? The generals from other regions abandoned us when the battle began. Even General Ivan left after confirming we weren't forcing anyone to participate."
He turned to face his subordinate. "Our objective was always singular: position Godzilla against the railgun at a precise angle. The failure of our initial strategy isn't the end. As long as we have personnel willing to fight, we have a chance. The railgun remains our ace—we haven't revealed it yet."

These humans were persistent beyond reason. Their vehicles destroyed, yet still they came. Small groups charging forward in waves, seemingly embracing death. Something about their pattern suggested purpose rather than desperation. They were trying to accomplish something specific.

Colonel Hayes studied the tactical analysis on his screen. The operation's true complexity was staggering. They needed Godzilla in perfect position—not just location, but angle, head height, and body positioning. All these variables had to be predicted seconds in advance.
Their original plan—using an unarmed transport plane as bait—had been mathematically impossible. Godzilla's concentrated breath weapon had a lethal range of roughly twelve miles. Outside that range, it wouldn't bother with precision attacks. Within that range, nothing could survive the focused plasma stream, let alone the surrounding firestorm.
Even hiding behind mountain cover created new problems. How could they guarantee Godzilla would enter their twelve-mile engagement zone? The creature was too intelligent to fixate on a single target without reason. They couldn't predict its path accurately enough to set up an ambush.
That's why they'd committed such massive forces to this position—to force Godzilla's approach. Now that strategy lay in ruins.

The constant approach of these flying machines grew tiresome. With casual disdain, it launched skyward again, creating a miniature sun beneath its massive form. The transports evaporated in the inferno, their destruction barely registering as noteworthy.

"Status report on remaining air assets?" Sato demanded.
The response came slowly, heavy with defeat: "Sir... we have no transport planes left."
The command center fell silent, the weight of their situation settling over them like a shroud. Their last chance at positioning Godzilla for the railgun shot had literally gone up in flames.
