Gold flowed from the pedestal!
Brutus used that chance to lunge for the dungeon core. Sure, the humans would be too busy with Thorn to bother with him.
The sound of falling coins echoed in the cave!
Marek moved closer to Valentius, who was trying to get Thorn out of the pile before the dragon melted and ate the gold.
"You know, you are not good with children," Marek whispered, as he wrapped an arm around Valentius. "But you are good at other things."
He let his lips brush against Valentius' earlobe. The boy shuddered with the promise he had extracted more than once. The promise that he was ready to let Marek make good on.
"Not now," Valentius didn't want the demon anymore. He was just a weapon. Someone who was already trying to stab him in the back.
"Then when?" Marek asked, pulling away. "When are you going to pay me attention?"
Valentius just sighed. When? Didn't the demon know that he had betrayed him one too many times?
