Gamma Rael Novak's POV
The chair flew across the room and smashed against the wall, sending splinters everywhere. I hadn't meant to throw it that hard, but my anger was getting harder to control with each passing hour.
"What do you mean you can't find them?" I asked, glaring at the scout who cowered before me.
"I'm sorry, Gamma Novak," he stuttered. "We followed Alpha Elias's trail to the edge of the Forgotten Woods, but no one's willing to go in. Not after what Jake saw."
"And what exactly did Jake see?" I asked, keeping my voice dangerously low.
The scout swallowed hard. "He said the trees... moved. And there were voices. Too many voices."
I dismissed him with a wave of my hand and turned to stare out the window of Elias's office—my office now, at least briefly. Three days had passed since Elias and Marcus vanished into the Forgotten Woods. Three days of growing chaos.
