It had been ten days since the arrival of my new boss and my life was going from bad to worse. Every day was hell at work, while at night I only heard the tapping Carmine caused when he fucked his new guy.
One morning the sun finally came out and my phone started ringing. I quickly glanced at the phone screen and frowned.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"Sis, are you awake yet? Remember to come to my pre-engagement dinner" Sarah said with a smile.
"What the fuck? It's 6 o'clock in the morning!" I shouted into the phone.
"You're so lazy, you'll never get a man like that" she said.
I squeezed the phone so hard I wanted to smash it in anger. However, before I hung up, I heard Sarah's voice again.
"You must come to clear up the guests' doubts about your relationship with Adama. You must say that you had no idea how to announce the breakup of the engagement and that you are now very happy for me and Adam.
A smirk tugged at my lips when I heard those words, how on earth did Sarah dare to ask me that?
"I won't be attending, I have work" I said seriously.
However, my words were enough to bring a couple of shrieks and insults from the other end of the phone. At first I wanted to hang up the call and disappear from her life, but I needed to have her around so I could get revenge.
Thinking about that, I let out a deep snort "I'll be there".
"Perfect, sis, don't forget to go with a simple dress. It will be something small, I don't want you to be the object of mockery of the guests", she hinted, pausing, "By the way, my personal driver will go to pick up the ring".
A wave of anger ran through my chest. She had a personal driver, while I had to use the bus.
Without hesitation I hung up the call and went down to the lounge to prepare something to eat. A few minutes later, Sarah's driver arrived with a couple of boxes.
I didn't even have to ask, I just handed over the ring and slammed the door in the man's face.
"Jeez, that idiot took forever to send your clothes" Carmine arched an eyebrow and sat on the couch in confusion.
She opened her lips about to say something, but as soon as I opened the first box, a completely unpleasant smell hit my nostrils.
"What the fuck?" I muttered.
All the clothes in the box were dirty and full of mildew. Opening all the boxes quickly, I discovered that all my clothes were in the same state.
I really must take revenge on those bastards!

I had spent all night trying to do my laundry, but as the clock ticked down to Sarah and Adam's pre-engagement dinner, I realized I still hadn't succeeded.
In no mood, I threw on a simple light blue dress and a silver necklace.
Afterwards, Carmine's new boyfriend drove me to the Delaware mansion. As he did, my eyes widened in amazement. The whole room was perfect, decorated with white and red roses.
"Excuse me, what is your name?" asked one of the people holding a folder in his hand.
"Sofia Delaware" I said with a soft smile.
The woman looked at me from head to toe and snorted "Well, Miss Delaware, the guests are in the main room" said the woman gesturing to another waiter.
The guy handed me a glass of champagne before I made my way to the main salon, but my footsteps stopped as I scanned him.
All the guests were dressed in fancy, expensive clothes. Shit! I was the only one who was casual.
"Oh, Sofia, yes you came!" I heard the sudden voice of Sarah, who came over and hugged me with a brimming smile on her lips.
Over her shoulders, I could see that all the guests were looking at me with a mocking chuckle. I shook my head quickly and pulled away from Sarah's embrace.
"Yes, I came. And, from what I can see, you've done everything you could to make sure I wouldn't forget this day, haven't you?" I hinted in a calm, but furious tone.
Sarah let out a mocking laugh and waved her hand "Come on, you're so funny, sis. You have to go say hello to everyone, they're anxious to hear from you" She hinted by grabbing my arm.
As soon as I looked at her, I saw that she was wearing the engagement ring Adam had given me with the promise to love me all my life. I couldn't help but be shocked as I remembered all the lies that idiot had told me.
I nodded gritting my teeth as she dragged me away with other guests.
"Yes, Sofia and I are more than sisters, best friends. Thanks to her I met my beloved fiancé. Gosh, he's the best man in the world!" Sarah hinted, making everyone look at me with intrigue.
"Oh, Sofia, it's time for you to tell that? You know" she said hinting at my relationship with Adam.
I didn't even have time to think when I only heard a female voice "Gosh, it's a bargain dress?
I quickly looked at the girl and furrowed an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I think it's one of those dresses they sell at the market. Oh, honey, didn't you have money for something else?" Said another one of Sarah's friends.
Sarah's friends started gossiping about my clothes as if I wasn't there.
"It's a $30 dress" I said with a wry smile.
The women raised an eyebrow with derision, but, before any of them could say anything, I interjected again "Let me guess.... Their dresses are expensive brands, I guess that's what they can afford and not their education and class" I added, taking a sip from my glass.
At my words, the four girls changed their sneers to a serious and angry expression.
"Girls, I'm sorry. She didn't mean to..." Sarah tried to respond, but I escaped her grip.
"Ah, I forgot, they don't buy loyalty even to their family either".
My words made all the girls' eyes widen in astonishment. Without waiting for a response, I turned around and walked towards the exit.
I actually cursed myself for going to that damn place. However, as I was about to walk through the door, I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me.
"If you dare to walk through that door, I will make your life hell. Remember that I still have power in this city" my father said menacingly.
His words chilled my blood. I slowly turned to him and, without even being able to retort, he brightened up with his nearly ten thousand dollar suit.
