Ezric leaned back on my bed, arms folded behind his head, looking far too pleased with himself. His legs swung slightly over the edge "Alright, human. You have one hour and five minutes. Ask wisely."
I rolled my eyes. "How generous of you."
He grinned, flashing sharp teeth. "Time is ticking."
I exhaled sharply. Stay focused, Lana.
"Fine," I started. "Let's begin with the basics—what is this world called?"
The boy blinked, tilting his head like a curious bird. "You really don't know?"
"Would I be asking if I did?"
Ezric hummed, then shrugged. "Beast World. That's what we call it."
I frowned. "Beast World?"
"Yup!" His legs swung a little faster. "Fitting name, right? This world is simple—only the strong survive, and the weak…" He trailed off, then gave a little giggle, like he'd just remembered a funny joke. "Well, weak things disappear."
The way he said it, so lightheartedly, sent a chill up my spine.
