Ezric paced back and forth in my room like a worm on fire, then stopped abruptly and pointed to the door.
"Let's go."
I was still chewing on some tree-fried noodles that... honestly didn't taste as bad as they looked. "Go where?"
"My first request," he said casually, like we were going on a picnic—not sneaking out of a secret base full of psychopath elves.
I eyed him suspiciously. "You want me to help steal something, don't you? From this place?"
The boy grinned. "Not stealing," he said. "Just borrowing. Lana. And not from here. Come on, we have to go."
"Uh-huh."
I glanced at the door, then at my own hand. Still shaking. My legs weren't fully steady either, but... I had made a promise. And my body had healed. Technically, I could walk.
Still, leaving the base? Right now? This was way too sudden.
"Sylas or Kaelith will kill me if they find out I left."
