Tim had expected Aurora to keep her distance. To be stiff, sharp, maybe even outright hostile after this morning. But as they walked toward his car after dropping Seraphina off, she spoke to him. Her voice was softer than he anticipated.
"Do you have very important work this morning?"
He glanced at her, searching her face for the reason behind the question.
"I'm the CEO, so no," he answered, arching a brow.
It was mostly true—he had back-to-back meetings, calls lined up, and a board member who was likely seething at his absence—but if Aurora was asking, none of that mattered.
Aurora slowed her steps. The air between them was lighter now, no longer charged with the anger that had filled the morning. Well, she still hesitated.
She sighed, crossing her arms, looking straight ahead.
"I overreacted earlier."
Tim stilled for a second. He hadn't been expecting that.
Aurora kept walking. "I just—" She exhaled sharply. "Seeing you with Seraphina… I wasn't prepared for it."
