The fog was beginning to rise higher, making it hard to see past the ghost. Blair held on tight to Kabir. His health was at risk, and Lucien was not improving.
"Sign the papers, Kabir," a whisper drifted through the fog, eerie and disturbing.
Blair's heart pounded like a dancing drum as she yanked the papers from Kabir's trembling hands and flung them far into the darkness. She would never stand by and watch him surrender everything to Lucien.
But Kabir wasn't in his right mind. Desperation clouded his judgment; his pigmented gaze locked onto the ghostly figure before him. His breath hitched, and his entire frame trembled. "Laura," he choked out, stepping forward as if drawn by an invincible force.
