The underground shelter trembled as the distant roars of the Koronji swarm filled the air. The once-calm night was torn apart by the shrieks of the approaching creatures, their silhouettes flickering in the moonlight. The soldiers inside the shelter, hardened by years of survival, readied their weapons with grim determination.
They moved like a mindless hive, leaping over their fallen brethren, claws glinting as they closed the distance. One soldier screamed as a Koronji latched onto his back, its mandibles sinking deep into his shoulder before Yahiko's blade sliced through its neck, sending its head rolling.
"Hold your ground!" I shouted, stepping forward as three of the creatures lunged at me at once. My sword cut through the first with a clean arc, but the second was already leaping past my defense.
A blood flying, but the creatures just kept coming.
Then, a shriek louder than the rest pierced the battlefield
.
I charged forward, aiming for the closest one. My sword struck its chest, but instead of cutting through, the blade barely scratched its hide. The creature's massive arm swung at me in retaliation, forcing me to duck as its claws tore through the air where my head had been.
The battlefield was absolute chaos. The underground shelter had turned into a war zone, the air thick with smoke, gunfire, and the unholy screeches of the Koronji swarm. The soldiers were holding their ground, but it was clear this wasn't just a normal invasion. The three high-level Koronji were already wiping out entire squads like they were paper dolls.
Yahiko stood firm, holding his Holy Shield, its radiant glow pulsing against the darkness. In his other hand, his Dragonfang Sword gleamed menacingly, its jagged edge still dripping with the black ichor of the creatures he had already slain.
Rin, with her Holy Bow, was perched on the remains of a collapsed wall, her arrows crackling with golden energy. Her cold stare locked onto her next targets, a stark contrast to the chaos around her.
And me? I tightened my grip on my Holy Sword, the golden runes along the blade pulsating with divine energy. My heart pounded with adrenaline, but there was only one thought in my mind we're wiping these oversized cockroaches off the map.
One of the remaining High-Level Koronji, a hulking mass of armored muscle and death, locked eyes or whatever the hell those glowing pits on its face were on Yahiko. It let out a low, guttural snarl before charging, each step shaking the ground.
"Oh, you wanna go?!" Yahiko smirked, raising his shield. "Come on, ugly, hit me with your best shot!"
The beast swung its massive claw, aiming to crush him like a bug. But the moment it made contact
BOOM!
A golden shockwave erupted from Yahiko's shield, sending the Koronji flying backward like it had been hit by a divine truck.
"Holy Shield, Ever heard of damage reflection?" Yahiko grinned.
The Koronji roared in rage, struggling to its feetnonly for Rin's voice to ring out.
"Hey, big guy catch."
A Holy Arrow shot through the air, striking the beast right in its exposed shoulder joint. The impact sent golden flames surging through its body as divine energy ripped through its corrupted flesh.
The Koronji screamed, clawing at the wound, but Rin was already preparing her next shot.
"Yahiko, quit admiring my work and start slicing!" she called out.
"Tch, yeah, yeah. I was just thinking about what seasoning would go best with Koronji steak."yahiko muttered, dashing forward.
With a single leap, I landed on the creature's back. My Holy Sword shone like a beacon as I drove it deep into the base of its neck.
"HOLY STRIKE—EXTERMINATION MODE!"
A wave of golden light exploded from my blade, sending cracks of divine energy surging through the Koronji's body. Its shrieks turned into gurgled death rattles before its entire form disintegrated into holy ash.
One Left… But Something Was Wrong
Before we could even celebrate, an unsettling chill ran down my spine.
Then, a slow clap echoed through the battlefield.
Clap… clap… clap…
Very well
The final High-Level Koronji had stopped attacking. Instead, it stood still, its glowing eyes locked onto us. But something was different. The air around it had changed. A twisted energy seeped from its body.
Then it spoke.
"Interesting… very interesting. I expected insects, but it seems the divine has sent warriors."
My name is Joru i am the seventh member of the true koronji clan
I have evolved ,my pet play with him
Yahiko stepped back, raising his shield. "Oh whatever"
"Haruto, do you have a plan " Rin asked."
I took a deep breath, tightening my grip on my sword.
"Yeah…" I exhaled. "We beat the sht out of it and get this over with ."*
The final High-Level Koronji let out a deep, rumbling laugh before its eyes turned blood-red.
The battlefield was still for a moment. The air itself felt like it was watching us, thick with an unnatural presence.
The High-Level Koronji stood before us, twitching, their exoskeletons cracking like something was forcing its way out.
And then
A low chuckle echoed from the darkness.
"Witness… The evolution.the true koronji laughed"
Dark, twisted energy erupted from the True Koronji's body, surging toward the High-Level Koronji. The moment it touched them, their bodies convulsed violently, as if something inside them was breaking apart.
Their chitin cracked and peeled away, revealing something far worse. Their bodies stretched, their limbs elongated, and their once-insectoid features became something almost… humanlike.
But not in a good way.
The faces split open into rows of jagged teeth, their arms turned into living blades, and worst of all
Their eyes started glowing red.
"Oh, great," Yahiko grinned, tightening his grip on his shield. "Now That's how you know they got a power-up."
I sighed, raising my sword. "Yep. Classic villain nonsense 'I shall bestow my with power even harder.'"
Rin's holy bow shimmered with light as she observed them carefully. "Be careful. It isn't the same anymore."
Yahiko cracked his neck, stepping forward. "Yeah, yeah. But tell me this, guys" He pointed at the newly evolved koronji. "Do they really think glowing red eyes make them stronger?"
The Koronji snarled.
Then it vanished.
I barely had time to react before a razor-sharp limb sliced through the air, aiming for my head. I twisted my body, dodging in time as the ground behind me exploded from the sheer force of the attack.
"HOLY—!" Yahiko barely raised his shield in time as the Koronji appeared above him, bringing both sword-like arms down. The impact sent out a shockwave, forcing him to his knees.
"Oh-ho! Alright!" Yahiko grinned, straining against the force. "I like it!"
"Speak for yourself!" I snapped, flipping backward just as the Koronji lunged at me again. This thing was too fast.
Rin took aim, her holy arrow glowing with divine energy.
FWIP—!!
The shot was dead on, but
The Koronji bent its body unnaturally, dodging mid-air like it had no bones. The arrow whizzed past, barely grazing its shoulder.
Rin clicked her tongue. "They're adapting."
Yahiko grunted, shoving his back with a powerful shield bash. "Alright,he smiled and said "Come."
The creature rushed him.
The Koronji wasn't just attacking with its hands anymore. A dark aura surrounded its limbs, and with a sudden, brutal motion
It swung the air.
A blade of energy erupted from its strike, cutting straight toward Yahiko.
"MOVE!" I shouted.
Yahiko rolled aside, but the energy blade still grazed his shoulder, sending him tumbling across the ground.
"Owww—!" Yahiko groaned, clutching his arm. "Okay, now they have projectiles too?how annoying."
"They're evolving based on our strengths," Rin murmured, firing another arrow. This time, she adjusted for their movement, striking one right in the chest.
The holy energy burned through its flesh, causing it to screech.
But it didn't die.
Instead, its body absorbed some of the light.
"Ugh ,How persistent.yahiko sighed "
The True Koronji's voice whispered through the air.
"Adaptation… is key."
I gritted my teeth. "So you're saying the more we fight, the more they counter us?"
Yahiko Smirked. "Sounds fun."
Rin took a deep breath. "Then we have to end this before they fully adjust."
I exhaled slowly. "Alright. Then let's go for overkill."
let's not waste time "
Rin dashed to the side, raining arrows of holy light down , forcing the Koronji to dodge while I charged forward.
My holy sword burned brighter, divine energy surging through the blade.
"Yahiko!" I shouted. "You up for something stupid?"
He grinned through the pain.
He slammed his shield into the ground, creating a barrier of holy energy but instead of defending, I used it as a platform.
Jumping high into the air, I raised my sword above my head.
The Koronji screeched, sensing the threat, but Rin was already on the move.
With one final pull of her bow, she unleashed a golden arrow straight into the sky.
"Dragons holy bow she yelled "
The moment it hit
Everything exploded in light.
"DIVINE JUDGMENT!"
With full force, I brought my sword down.
The impact shattered the ground. A massive golden explosion erupted, consuming both Koronji in pure holy fire.
Their screams echoed through the battlefield before finally, the evolved Koronji faded into dust.
The dust settled.
Yahiko lay face-down on the ground. "Ow."
I coughed. "Did we…?"
Rin slowly lowered her bow, scanning the area.
Then she exhaled. "They're gone."
I let out a tired laugh. "Well… that was horrible."
Yahiko groaned, rolling onto his back. "Yeah, but at least I looked cool."
"Dude, you got blasted across the field." I said "
"And yet,you still feel like the MVP."
Rin sighed, shaking her head. "The True Koronji is still here."
Our smiles faded.
I looked up, my grip tightening on my sword.
The dark presence still loomed.
A slow, deliberate clap echoed from the darkness.
"Impressive."
A shadow shifted above us, standing on the edge of a crumbling building. The True Koronji had finally revealed itself a tall, monstrous figure wrapped in pure darkness, its form constantly shifting like it couldn't decide what shape to take. Its eyes burned violet, cold and calculating, impressed by everything we had just done.
Yahiko wiped some dust off his shoulder. "Alright, cool. Boss music's playing. What's next?"
Rin slowly drew her bow. "Be careful."
I took a deep breath, lifting my sword."finally you showed up."
The True Koronji tilted its head, its eerie grin widening. "Play time is over."
Then, with a snap of its fingers
The world turned black.
Dark magic exploded from the True Koronji's body.
A wave of pure void energy rushed toward us, swallowing everything in its path. The sky itself seemed to twist and crack, as if reality was struggling to hold itself together.
"Move!" I shouted.
We dove apart just as the black wave consumed the ground, leaving nothing behind.
Not scorched earth.
Not rubble.
Just… nothingness.
"Oh, cool, it deletes things now," Yahiko huffed, tightening his grip on his sword
Oi rin don't slow me down"
"Same goes to you" she said flatly, firing an arrow.
The holy shot pierced through the darkness, illuminating the battlefield for a moment
And that's when we saw it.
The True Koronji wasn't just standing there.
It was everywhere.
Its shadow stretched and multiplied, moving like liquid across the battlefield.
"Now that is new ," I muttered.
Yahiko excited . "I like it "
The shadows lashed out.
tendril of darkness shot toward me, slicing through the air like a whip. I raised my holy sword, blocking the attack, but the impact sent me skidding backward.
"Tch !" I swung, sending out a wave of divine energy, cutting through the shadows
But they reformed instantly.
Rin fired rapidly, each holy arrow piercing the black mass, but the True Koronji laughed, its voice echoing from all directions.
"You cannot defeat the void."
Yahiko growled, raising his shield. "Alright, shut up, you edgy piece of "
BOOM!!
A pillar of darkness erupted beneath him, sending him flying.
"GAH!!"
He flipped mid-air, barely managing to land on his feet.
"Okay!" He wiped his face. "Ow! That was rude!"
I exhaled. "We can't hit it. We need a plan."
Rin narrowed her eyes. "If shadows can't exist without light… then we just need to erase all darkness."
I grinned. "I like where this is going."
"Yahiko!" I shouted.
Yahiko slammed his shield into the ground, releasing a massive dome of holy energy around us. The shadow tendrils recoiled, unable to touch the glowing light.
The True Koronji hissed.
"Rin! Charge up everything!"
Rin closed her eyes, drawing back her bow. A golden aura surrounded her as she pulled the string tighter and tighter, compressing divine power into a single blazing arrow.
The entire battlefield trembled.
The True Koronji's smile finally faltered.
"This is futile," it whispered. "You cannot erase the abyss."
I stepped forward, my sword radiating pure holy light. "Then I guess we're about to be the first."
I rushed in.
The True Koronji lashed out, forming countless shadow blades, but I weaved through them, slashing with everything I had.
Every strike burned away the darkness.
"NOW, RIN!"..
Divine judgement arrow
She fired.
The arrow tore through the air, its light blinding, its power absolute.
It struck the True Koronji dead center.
The battlefield erupted in a pillar of divine energy, burning away everything
For a moment, there was nothing but white.
Then
As the light faded…
A shadow flickered.
The True Koronji, battered and weakened, emerged from the remnants of the void, its form unstable, flickering in and out of reality.
"Tch!" I tried to move, but my body was sluggish.
Yahiko groaned. "I swear if it runs away"
"It's running away." Rin said flatly.
And indeed
The True Koronji vanished into the darkness, its voice a whisper in the wind.
"This is far from over."
A portal of black energy swallowed it whole
And it was gone.
Silence.
For a long moment, none of us spoke.
Then
"I AM SO TIRED OF THESE VILLAINS JUST LEAVING THEY Always do this " Yahiko threw his sword on the ground. "LIKE , COME BACK AND FIGHT. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY."
I sighed, collapsing onto the ground. "We won. But yeah, that was annoying."
Rin lowered her bow. "At least we survived."
Yahiko crossed his arms. "Yeah, but like how do they just leave? Is there a villain Uber service we don't know about?"
I laughed. "Man, if there is, they better give it a one-star rating after today."
Rin shook her head. The battle is over.
For now.
