Chapter 27 - 27. Mandragora Snake

As the group of four ventured deeper into the Great Star Dou Forest, Bei Bei explained all the unique techniques of the Tang Sect to Huo Yuhao.

Huo Yuhao listened attentively to Bei Bei's explanation, occasionally asking questions. Bei Bei responded with clear and helpful answers.

They continued walking until the path vanished completely. They were now surrounded by dense forest, and the air grew fresher. However, there was a faint sound of heavy breathing coming from deep within the woods.

Just as Bei Bei finished explaining to Huo Yuhao how to operate Xuan Tian Gong,

Xiaoya, who was walking in front, suddenly let out a cold snort. Her steps turned into an illusion as she flickered in an instant and pounced toward a large tree to the left. Huo Yuhao only vaguely saw flashes of cold light, and a Wind Baboon, the same kind that had nearly killed him before, fell from the tree canopy.

Xiaoya said with displeasure, "Hmph! These Wind Baboons are so annoying. Not only do they attack proactively, but they also like to ambush from hiding."

Huo Yuhao, curious after seeing the movement technique Tang Ya had used, asked her about it.

Tang Ya was just about to answer him proudly when—

"Xiao Ya, be careful." Bei Bei's expression suddenly changed. He swiftly raised his right hand and made a grabbing motion toward Tang Ya. The two of them seemed used to working together. Tang Ya tapped the ground with her toes and gracefully floated into the air, as if weightless, pulled by the suction force in Bei Bei's hand.

At that very moment, a dark shadow swooped down from the treetops, landing silently. A sweet, thick fragrance immediately spread around Wang Feng and the others.

Instantly, Bei Bei and Tang Ya's martial souls activated. A dazzling blue light flared from Bei Bei's forehead, spreading downward to envelop his entire body. Strands of purple-blue electric current burst out like tiny snakes, slithering all around him.

These violet-blue electric currents blocked the fragrant aroma for Bei Bei and Tang Ya, but it was rather uncomfortable for Huo Yuhao, who was standing nearby.

At that moment, Wang Feng raised his arm and activated his martial soul, the Lotus of Harmony. Channeling his energy, a protective barrier formed around him and Huo Yuhao.

Wang Feng then watched the battle between Bei Bei and the soul beast. The beast was a thousand-year-old Mandragora Snake.

"Wow, that's a thousand-year-old Mandragora Snake! Amazing, Bei Bei! That's the spirit ring I wanted!" Tang Ya exclaimed excitedly, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

But at the same time, the Mandragora Snake lunged forward at terrifying speed. Its crimson eyes glowed viciously, and its long fangs dripped thick purple venom—deadly enough to kill within seconds.

"Tang Ya, fall back!" Bei Bei shouted, lightning crackling around him.

However, before Bei Bei or anyone else could react, a black shadow flashed by—faster than lightning.

BAM!

In an instant, Wang Feng was already in front of the Mandragora Snake. He clenched his fist and smashed it straight into the snake's head.

BANG!

The snake didn't have time to dodge, and the punch landed squarely.

But Wang Feng didn't stop there.

As soon as his fist struck, he immediately grabbed the snake's body, clamping down tightly. With brutal strength, he slammed the beast into the ground.

CRACK!

The earth beneath them cracked. The Mandragora Snake's body shuddered violently, and a hissing sound of pain came from its mouth. It writhed, trying to fight back, but it was useless. Wang Feng's grip was like iron shackles—completely unbreakable.

The Mandragora Snake tried to spit venom, but Wang Feng simply pressed down harder, pinning its jaw to the ground.

"Now, Sister Ya!" Wang Feng shouted, his voice firm but calm in the tense situation. "I'll hold it—finish it now!"

Of course, Tang Ya wouldn't miss such a perfect opportunity. She dashed to the side of the Mandragora Snake, pulled a flying dagger about half a foot long from her Twenty-Four Moonlight Bridges belt, and hurled it straight into the snake's mouth. The dagger pierced through, ending the life of the thousand-year-old Mandragora Snake.

A faint purple soul ring slowly condensed and formed above the snake's head.

"Well done, little Wang Feng. I love you so much!" Tang Ya cried out in joy, hugging Wang Feng tightly.

Wang Feng blushed. It was the first time he had been hugged by a girl—especially such a beautiful one like Tang Ya.

"Sister Tang… Please, absorb the spirit ring before it disappears," Wang Feng said, trying to get her to let go.

"Alright, hehe!"

Tang Ya looked at Wang Feng with great enthusiasm, thanked him again, then turned to Bei Bei and said, "Bei Bei, come and protect me! I'm going to start absorbing the spirit ring."

Before Bei Bei could respond, she immediately sat cross-legged and extended her right palm. A blue light glowed in her hand. She raised it slightly and gently tapped the purple spirit ring above the mandrake snake. Instantly, the spirit ring was drawn in by the blue light and merged into her body.

Tang Ya began concentrating on absorbing the spirit ring, while Wang Feng, Huo Yuhao, and Bei Bei guarded her, preventing any danger from approaching. At the same time, they chatted casually.

As the group talked, Huo Yuhao shared the effects of his first spirit ring with everyone.

"The skill I just used is called Spirit Detection Sharing. You can feel its range too—right now it's effective up to about 30 meters. When my spirit power increases in the future, that range should grow. I'm not sure how long I can maintain it, but it doesn't seem to consume much power."

Bei Bei and Wang Feng were both surprised. Was this really Huo Yuhao's first spirit ring ability? How could it be this amazing? With this detection support tool, dealing with enemies would become much easier.

The skill granted by a ten-year spirit ring was already strong, but the added effect was extraordinary. It truly lived up to being a rare mental-type mutation ability!

What they didn't know was that at this moment, Huo Yuhao was also feeling surprised. When he tried sharing his spirit ability with Wang Feng, he felt a terrifying beast-like presence hidden within Wang Feng.

A voice echoed in his sea of consciousness.

"Yuhao, what are you doing? Why do I feel such immense pressure, like something terrifying is staring me down?"

"I didn't do anything, Sister Tianmeng. I'm just sharing my first spirit ability with my friends," Huo Yuhao quickly replied, afraid she might misunderstand.

Tianmeng Iceworm was confused. Was it just a spirit ability test? Then why had such a terrifying pressure suddenly appeared?

Tianmeng tried to peek into the outside world. She first glanced at Bei Bei, but sensing nothing special, she quickly shifted her attention.

As her gaze swept over Wang Feng, she saw something utterly horrifying inside his body...

ROAARR!

A deep, resounding roar erupted from within Wang Feng, crashing into Tianmeng like a brutal tidal wave.

"Yuhao! Stop! Don't go near him!" Tianmeng retreated in panic, her voice trembling.

Huo Yuhao was stunned. "Why, Sister Tianmeng? What happened?"

"I don't know…" Tianmeng tried to calm herself, but fear still lingered. "But there's… something inside him. Something that even I don't dare to provoke."

Huo Yuhao fell silent, his gaze slowly shifting toward Wang Feng. Even Tianmeng, who had lived for millions of years, was afraid of him. That only deepened the mystery of Wang Feng's true identity.

Back to the present—

After experiencing Huo Yuhao's spiritual ability, Wang Feng could only sigh.

"Just with this spiritual ability alone, no spiritual-type master will refuse your help in the future."

Huo Yuhao brightened up upon hearing that.

"Really? No spirit master would reject me?"

Wang Feng smiled and nodded in affirmation.

With Wang Feng's reassurance, Huo Yuhao finally felt at ease. At the very least, he no longer had to worry about his future.

"This kid, Yuhao…" Tianmeng sighed, still remembering the earlier pressure.

"Hehe, don't be mad, Sister Tianmeng. I just feel like Wang Feng isn't a bad person. We shouldn't judge a book by its cover." Huo Yuhao chuckled. For some reason, he instinctively felt that Wang Feng was a good person. He didn't know why—but he trusted his gut.

Of course, it wasn't because Wang Feng was so handsome!!

"Hmph, fine, but I've already warned you!" Tianmeng pouted sulkily.
