Cain could not believe what he saw. The Bishop nodded, confirming that this was indeed his fate. He couldn't believe that he was supposed to die like this.
"If you become the King, then I will erase your existence in your world." The Bishop said. "But, you can also refuse the offer if you want and that will be your future. Now, let's see the future if you accept this proposal."
He snapped his fingers and the scene in the window changed. A man was sitting on the throne, surrounded by golds and jewels. Behind him stood a group of monsters, all looking like humans with different kinds of weapons.
The group was watching a red-haired woman and what seemed to be her followers running across a cave, defeating goblins and wolves. It seemed like they were clearing a dungeon. A boy with brown hair and red gloves was punching the goblin while leering at the women in the group lecherously.
Cain recognized them.
"Rias and her peerage?"
Soon, the screen changed again to show another scene. Each one had people he recognized, someone who shouldn't have existed in reality.
After a while, the darkness returned and the Bishop said, "Now, choose."
"Can you repeat it?"
"If you choose to refuse, the fate shown in the beginning will happen. However, you will have a chance to survive if you accept the offer to be the first King. We will give you powers beyond human's capabilities and a safe passage out of your world, as well as an ability to travel through different dimensions and worlds."
Travel through dimensions and worlds. Which meant it didn't just end in reality but he could travel to anime and manga he knew, like Highschool DxD and others. He might have a chance to meet characters he liked or hated and get to know them personally.
"Take your time."
"No, I have decided." Cain quickly stood up, and declared proudly, "I will be the King."
"Excellent. I shall give you a ring. Wear this and it will grant you access to the System. Once you have been transported to the destination, your role as the King shall commence. And if there is duty, then there is reward. Do your best."
The Bishop snapped his fingers once again, and Cain found himself wearing a silver ring on his right index finger. As soon as the Bishop touched it, a red gem glowed brightly and a notification appeared.
*Ding*
A deep and robotic male voice resounded in Cain's mind.
[You are now in the King's Tutorial!]
[You have 2 hours to finish the King's Trial. Your performance shall decide the rewards that you shall receive. There is a chance that you may die, please be careful.]
'King's trial...?' Cain thought. He was still trying to take everything in and figure out what the hell just happened to him when another message appeared.
King's Trial 1:
Create a 2 floors Dungeon.
When he realized it, Cain found himself in a strange room. It looked like an underground cavern, but there was no dirt or rock to be seen.
A window that was often seen in video games floated in front of him and he saw the objective of the first trial. The room had nothing in it, only the floor was covered in stone tiles.
'Is it a game?' He asked himself. Then, a screen popped up with the title: King's Tutorial.
A robotic voice was speaking from the ring on his finger.
[Dungeon Maker System, it's a system where the King is in control of everything in his territory. Place traps, summon monsters, and gather coins to upgrade and buy something from the dungeon store. You can get coins from the challengers that enter the dungeon.]
[You have been given 500 Coins for early setup.]
'System?' He muttered. He had played video games enough to know that it was a game-like thing, or maybe a real-life RPG.
In a fantasy or medieval world, a dungeon is a type of monster nest where adventurers would enter to train and earn money. But, in reality, it's just an empty room with no monsters.
What's the point of creating such a thing?
"I am the one filling the dungeon?"
The windows in front of him showed a list of monsters and traps he could place. Each cost coins, which he currently had around 500. Based on the price he saw, he might be able to create a newbie dungeon with some traps and weak monsters.
"How do I get coins, though? It said I can get it from the challengers."
Just as he asked that, the voice replied from the ring, answering him as if the ring understood him and his confusion.
[The Dungeon will convert the challengers' emotion into energy and generate Coins. Every emotion generates a different amount of energy. Negative emotion generates the most energy, and fear generates the highest.]
Listening to the description, Cain nodded. He understood what it was saying. But...
"The worlds I am connected with will be those anime worlds. And there are fearsome people in those worlds. Making them fear my newbie dungeon is... bad idea. I don't want to get killed by a siscon Crimson Satan or other overpowered anime characters."
To move forward, he had to create dungeons and get coins. These coins were versatile. In fact, he could see various things he wanted to buy in the dungeon store. It was basically an app store. There were a lot of features he wanted, but didn't have the money for.
'I have 2 hours... I should finish this as soon as possible.'
He then looked around the empty space he was standing in and decided to create a basic 2-floored dungeon with the help of the Dungeon Maker system.
'First, the setting... Let's make it a fun dungeon where people can get revived. That way, I can farm their joy and adrenaline and don't risk angering their backers. I don't want to die.'
With that, he began to work on the dungeon with his limited coins. He decided that he would make a fun adventure dungeon that everyone could enjoy.
He placed traps and monsters at strategic places so that they would not be too hard for newcomers to beat but also challenging enough for experienced players to enjoy themselves.
When the countdown of his mission reached the last 1 minute, Cain managed to finish the dungeon he envisioned with 500 Coins.
"Phew, I managed to finish it on time..." Cain sighed in relief and smiled. He looked at his masterpiece and felt proud of himself for doing such a good job in such a short amount of time.
Suddenly, a window appeared before him. It read:
[The King's trial is over. Connecting the dungeon's entrance to another world. Please give it a name.]
"A name, huh?" Cain stroked his chin as he leaned back to his throne.
After a moment, he said, "Let's name it the Fun Fun Dungeon!"
And just like that, he decided on the name.
[Name decided. Connection in progress.]
[Connected! Fun Fun Dungeon! is connected to Highschool DxD World.]
"Oh!"
