Chapter 3 - Things to do …

Chapter 11 Things to do ... III

When the last second of death, Yu Sheng felt boundless, incomparably heavy, as if some kind of viscous fluid with solid ... "darkness".

He felt his consciousness dissipating at a rapid rate, and he knew that the shell used to support it was rapidly losing its vitality in the midst of the grievous injuries - it was only natural that as the physiology ceased to function, the mind, carried by the flesh, sank and dissipated with it.

However, at the edge of the dissipation of consciousness, a force, or a strong ... "thought," a strange obsession, seemed to firmly bind Yu Sheng's mind, and he was in a trance, remembering the frog that had devoured his heart, and remembering his last "resurrection".

What happened then? What happened to you? Why is he alive?

These questions into obsession, so that his consciousness strong hold on the edge of the endless darkness, even if faltering, but never completely sink, he really wanted to know ... what really happened, his own death in the end, and how to "come back"?

The darkness crushed over, and the sticky texture gradually became cold and rough, and he felt as if he were being covered in a thick layer of earth, while his soul gradually gasped for breath under the weight ... But suddenly, this heavy pressure disappeared again.

In a sort of momentary epiphany, a thought popped into his fluttering consciousness--

In his death, death died before him.

Yu Sheng's death died, so the dead Yu Sheng once again returned to the land of the living from the boundless darkness - he felt that his "body" suddenly became lighter and began to accelerate out of the endless darkness.

In the process, he vaguely saw that there was something on the surface of the darkness, and he seemed to be rushing past some "surface", but he didn't have time to see the scene before his eyes snapped open.

The cold night wind blew through the large hole in the wall, and beyond the half-collapsed roof was a chaotic, dirty sky, and deep in the night, the hollow winds of the valley howled.

Yu Sheng sat in the corner of the broken temple, feeling his mind muddled, a feeling he was familiar with - just a short while ago, he had just experienced it once.

But this time, he recovered much faster, and in almost just a few breaths, he recalled everything, including the feeling of being buried in darkness.

After adjusting his breath, Yu Sheng slowly got up.

He felt his joints gradually awakening from their stiffness, as if a newly born body was rapidly learning how to "live", his strength rapidly filling up, his mind gradually waking up, and then he looked out of the broken temple, to the place where he had been bleeding.

The place is empty now, and the behemoth seems to have left ... or it may just be hiding, as it did before.

After a moment of silence, Yu Sheng spoke tentatively in his head, "... Irene."

Almost the instant his words fell, Erin's staggering voice exploded in the back of his mind, "Yu Sheng! I'm going, are you okay!?"

She then began to ramble rapidly, "Just now you suddenly stopped responding, you didn't respond to me no matter how much I screamed, I couldn't even feel where your consciousness was, I thought you were dead! Scared me to death, no one will come to fix the TV if you die--are you really okay?"

The muscles in Yu Sheng's face instantly twitched, "Dare I say you're just worried that no one will come home to fix the TV, right?"

Erin thought for a moment, "... That's not true, and by the way, I'm afraid you're really dead ..."

  Yusheng: "..."

  Surprisingly, she actually hesitated!

Trying to calm down a bit, Yu Sheng finally gritted his back teeth to make his voice sound calm, "What if I tell you that I really died once just now?"

Erin pressed on, "Stop it, you're sounding alive now ..."

"... Yeah, I'm just kidding you," listening to Erin's reaction, Yusheng brought up the subject without moving, then he was silent for a moment before speaking somewhat abruptly, "How long has it been? "

"Huh? How long has what been going on?"

"How much time has passed since I told you I'd hang up first?"

"Er ... from my position also can't see the living room table ah ... I estimate about half an hour? It's not necessarily accurate, I've been sealed in this painting for some years now, my perception of time is a bit sluggish, but I can see that the color of the sky outside hasn't changed much, at least not for the past night, it's not even dawn yet ..."

Yu Sheng: "... Isn't this a bit too inaccurate for you? Half an hour is a lot worse than a night, you know?"

Erin didn't say anything for a moment, but then a harsh and whispered scoff came from her side.

Erin spoke up instantly to explain, "It wasn't me! It's this bear!"

Yu Sheng waved his hand physically and mentally, "I know."

Erin sounded quite happy, "Ah, you're finally willing to trust me ..."

Yu Sheng had already lazily ignored this sealed mannequin, he didn't have the heart to tell the other party that he wasn't believing her, but rather he felt that - she didn't even need to be happy if she really wanted to beg for a beating, she was already beating up enough just by talking.

That bear's bitchy grin proved to be an added bonus at best in the face of Erin's mouth ...

With some useless thoughts spinning in his mind, Yu Sheng once again walked out of the broken temple.

I don t know if it is an illusion, he feels that his physical strength is even better than before he hung up once just now, his footsteps are light, his movements are powerful, and even his eyes ... seem to have gotten a little better.

He seemed to be adjusting to it, to the darkness, the rugged ruins, and the omnipresent sight of malice and hunger.

He walked towards the clearing in front of the broken temple, towards the forest on the opposite side of the clearing, towards the deeper parts of this "foreign land".

He knew that he might still die, it might even be the next step, the next second.

"Yu Sheng," Erin's voice sounded in her head again, "Were you really okay just now?"

"It's okay, just a small injury, it's all better now."

"So what, why don't you just stay where you are, or find a safe place to hide, and I'll try to remember to recall, maybe I've come across that 'valley' you're talking about before ... "

"Then you can reminisce for now, I'll continue to look around here." Yu Sheng said casually.

"Huh? That might be a little dangerous ..."

"Eileen," Yu Sheng directly interrupted the other party, he has come to the clearing, at this time deeply inhaled the cold and with weird fishy air in the valley, looking at the distant shadowed gloomy dense forest, he suddenly pulled the corners of his mouth and smiled, "You know, these days I have been living in a state of confusion ."

Erin was obviously a bit unable to keep up with Yu Sheng's train of thought, "Uh ... ah, should I know ..."

Yu Sheng, however, didn't care what kind of reaction Erin was having, and just spoke to himself, "... I just heard you mention 'Otherworldly' and some incidents of mistakenly entering Otherworldly areas, do you know what kind of reaction I had? "

  "What reaction?"

  "Happy."

  "Huh?"

"Happy, I'm very happy," Yu Sheng stood in the night, unable to suppress a smile, "You said that some people accidentally opened a wrong door, or just stepped on a wrong floor at a certain time under some extremely low probability, and fell into the place known as the 'Otherworld', right? And you also said that people who fall into the foreign realm actually still have a chance to go back if they are lucky enough to find the laws of the foreign realm ..."

"That's what I said ..." Erin said a little hesitantly, "but it really depends on luck, professional investigators are still good, ordinary people basically wait to die if they fall into the alien realm without training ..."

Yu Sheng mumbled softly, "It's alright, try it out when you're dead ..."

  Erin: "... what?"

"Nothing, I just suddenly found something to do," Yu Sheng gently breathed a sigh of relief, as if he was trying to exhale all the turbid air that he had been holding back for the past two months of being a mess in this world, "Let's just start with this place, it might take a little longer, but I'm sure that I can get out of this place. "

"I don't know what's going on over there, but it feels like you're ... perking up?" Erin spoke hesitantly, "So what, at least it's good, right, you cheer up? Try not to die ah ... still waiting for you to come back to fix the TV ... and find me a body or something ..."

"Okay, I'll think of a way to fix your body when I get back," Yu Sheng said casually, "I've more or less touched some sculpture and modeling stuff before, so trying it out should be fine."

This time Erin was genuinely surprised, "Huh? You have experience as a puppeteer? You didn't say so earlier! How's your craftsmanship? What level of dolls or models can you make?"

Yu Sheng hesitated for a moment and told him frankly, "It's almost to the extent of following an online video to watch a big guy pinch clay, and after watching it, his brain tells his hand that he knows how to do it, but his hand doesn't believe him."

Two seconds later, Erin was cursing hard.

But Yu Sheng was in a completely relaxed mood, some kind of loose mind that he himself didn't know was right drummed up his confidence as he walked towards the front and raised his head again in the night, trying to look at the high mountains on one side.

A beast of flesh and blood several meters tall, as if born from the fusion of countless twisted beast limbs, stared at him from the side of the road.

Yu Sheng stopped and thought for a moment, mentally greeting the painted figure who was cursing, "Erin."

  "What is it?"

"... There's nothing else I have to hang up again first."

  "Huh?"

Chapter 12 - There's someone in this place!

Yu Sheng greeted Irene offline, but this time he didn't hang up immediately after he finished.

Not because the thing across the street had switched to vegetarianism, but because the appalling beast somehow seemed to be in some kind of daze.

It stood in the night wind, dozens of pairs of confused overlapping eyes on the meatball with a strange "gaze" dead staring at the prey in front of him, although it is a bit strange to say so, but Yu Sheng felt that he really saw the meaning of "confusion" in these eyes --It's the kind of confusion where the mouth and the stomach don't match up for half an hour.

Irene was still anxiously calling out something in his mind, but Yu Sheng's entire attention was focused on the horrifying monster in front of him, and Irene's voice was as distant to him as if it was separated by a thick curtain - he tensed his muscles, feeling his heart thumping like a drum, and every muscle quiver and vein undulation on the monster's body was clearly reflected in his eyes.

Although he had been prepared for this when he was "resurrected" from the broken temple, Yu Sheng still felt a great deal of tension when he really encountered the weight of death again.

The only difference from last time is that the fear mixed in with this tension has receded considerably, and in its place, there is a certain ... excitement that feels alien to himself.

And then he suddenly felt something.

It was muscles contracting, it was dirty, thick blood pooling, hunger raging in his heart, the command to eat coming from his muddled mind - for a very brief moment, the warning sign rose steeply in his mind, and he outlined it accurately.

The monster was going to strike, from the left, but it was only a feint, the real kill was a snake tail with barbs and blades that would be thrown from the back.

The monster lunged, a bloody mouth from the end of one of its limbs suddenly split and bit at the left side of Yu Sheng's body - but before it leapt up, Yu Sheng had already reacted, nothing too much thinking, he directly followed the prompts in his mind to slam his body sideways, followed by a quick lunge forward, so fast that even he did not believe it himself.

He noticed that his previously sprained waist had somehow recovered completely, as if the body had been in incredibly good condition ever since it was "resurrected".

Beast pounced in the air, the snake's tail in a tricky angle to sneak attack also just barely swept over the back of the "prey", Yu Sheng felt the wind pressure behind him, from the edge of death swept through the feeling that made his hairs stand on end, but more than the thrill of the sensation, his heart more than a share of unbelievable:

Surprisingly, you actually dodged it yourself? What the hell was that all about?

But he didn't have time to think about it, because the next round of crisis came from behind him again, this time there wasn't enough time to dodge, he only had time to land on the ground and then rolled over in a mess before he saw a sharp claw smashing down towards him.

In the heat of the moment, he could only instinctively raise his hand and use his frail human arm to block the sharp claws that were almost like a meteorite smashing down.

With a loud bang, the air stirred and dispersed the grass clippings and dust in a circle of several meters, and the sharp pain spread all over his body, Yu Sheng felt as if a dozen bones in his body had been smashed together, and he let out a muffled grunt, and retreated two steps without taking a breath -

But he blocked it, he cut through that blow just now.

Yu Sheng looked at his hands in shock, he saw that his left hand was showing an abnormal crooked angle, apparently the bones had really been smashed, yet the pain was fading at an alarming speed, and the twisted bones seemed to be slowly recovering.

He remembered clearly the first time that monster had attacked him, remembered the true power of that monster, how every inch of muscle in that thing's body could easily crush a human's torso, and Yu Sheng was one hundred percent sure that when that monster lunged with all its might, it would be impossible for him to block it - no amount of broken bones would be possible.

But the monster obviously wouldn't give him much time to think, and after only a second or two of adjustment after landing, the hungry beast let out a confused and angry roar, and pounced on the annoying "prey" in front of him once again.

The wind came through the bones, the monster swooped over like a mountain falling from the sky, Yu Sheng once again reacted in advance, he rolled to the side unimaginatively, and then jumped up to avoid a tail that split the mountain and cracked the stone, however, the next second, Yu Sheng, who had not yet gained a firm footing, was swept to the ground by the retracting tail, and then, the beast was directly from the middle of the body cracked open, and a disgusting as if the tentacles, A long, disgusting, wriggling tongue shot out in the night, wrapping itself around Yu Sheng, who had lost his balance, and dragging him back violently.

Yu Sheng forcefully supported his hands, so that he would not be strangled by the "long tongue" to the chest, at least not so fast, he watched himself being dragged to the monster in front of the latter's body from the center of a large hole, countless sharp teeth in the large hole in the undulating friction, such as a huge mouth of a hungry to the extreme.

The moment he was about to be dragged into that huge mouth, Yu Sheng's feet stomped violently, and the rock under his feet cracked with a thud, while the huge recoil force even yanked the monster into a stagger.

Yu Sheng couldn't care less about thinking about why he had so much strength, taking advantage of this momentary respite, he used almost all of his strength to roar and break the long tongue that was wrapped around him, and right after that, he picked up a piece of sharp debris from the ground and pounced on a cloudy eyeball on the side of the monster that was trembling madly.

The long tongue snapped, and the creature let out a gut-wrenching roar, blood spurting from its midsection as it staggered, struggling to regain its balance, dozens of pairs of eyes gazing at the prey in front of it with madness and hunger -

  Smells good, smells good ...

The scent of blood was boring into the nostrils, was stimulating the nerves of the hungry, was arousing some long dormant ... instinct.

  It really smells good.

Yu Sheng felt his heart beating frantically, felt his blood surging with something so scorching that it was almost boiling, an ecstasy was gradually rising up in the bottom of his heart, he tried hard to try to distinguish what this ecstasy really was, finally, he understood.

It was the joyous feeling of imminent feeding, the reward that hunger would be satisfied.

The giant beast, the stacked flesh and blood, the chaotic fallen spirit, the ...

  Good meat.

Sharp gravel was gradually crushed to powder in his hands, and he breathed heavily, feeling everything around him slow down.

He pounced on the creature, the creature pounced on him, food embraced food - in a trance he felt as if he had never eaten in the last twenty years, or at least not eaten "real food", he embraced the hideous limbs of the creature's side, and the creature "embraced" him with even greater strength, until he strangled bone after bone in his body. He embraced the hideous limbs of the creature's side, and the creature "embraced" him with even greater strength, until it broke one bone after another in his body.

But it was as if Yusheng didn't feel it; he had gnawed into the creature's flesh and blood, and unlike last time, when it was an angry and desperate final counterattack before death, he now had a new mindset-

He won't die, he'll come back, this monster can kill him once, twice, or countless times, but he'll come back.

And each time, he understood what to do with the monster better than the last.

This may take a long time.

But he will enjoy this good meat little by little.

The dozen or so eyes on the monster's side trembled madly, and a few of them seemed to have sensed something, finally slowly focusing on Yusheng.

A huge mouth full of sharp teeth had already gnawed on Yusei from the side, yet a layer of fear seemed to gradually float in those eyes.

Yu Sheng felt his body being gradually torn apart by the monster, and he knew that he was still defeated this time, and rightfully so - he would die, and be eaten by this monster.

At least this time, he couldn't win.

In any case, he had lasted far longer than expected this time - he had thought he would have passed away on the spot in a single glance, but he hadn't expected to fight this monster back and forth.

"Erin ah ...," Yusheng tried to call mentally before his consciousness sank into darkness.

Irene's voice sounded almost immediately, "Yu Sheng! Yu Sheng are you alright? I kept calling you just now and you ignored me ..."

"It's okay, just told you earlier, now I'm going to hang up ..."

And then he ignored Erin's yelling and just waited quietly for death to come.

Yet just before that heavy darkness descended, he suddenly heard a voice from nearby-a voice that was clear and truly present in this valley.

"Don't be afraid! I'll come, to save you!"

Yu Sheng's consciousness was already very unclear, but at that moment it stirred with a moment of clarity, and a thunderous shock exploded into his mind--

  Someone?

  This place, anyone?

With great difficulty he opened his eyelids and looked in the direction from which the voice had come, and saw that a figure was rushing from the distance, and he saw vaguely that it appeared to be a girl in ragged clothes, but the next moment he saw another silhouette behind the girl soaring through the night.

  What's that?

  Is it a tail?

  Fox?

  People?

  No, a subsonic headbutt.

Yu Sheng despaired to see the figure that shouted to come to his rescue accelerating twice in the air like an extended-range artillery shell, and rushing straight over with his head down, while the monster that was gnawing at him happened to side-step his body a little bit (most likely on purpose), and so he became the target of the figure that crashed straight over.

  "Lying C ..."

He only had time to squeeze two syllables through his teeth.

The girl who rushed over didn't even see what was in front of her.

Subsonic headbutt to Yusei's chest, and then he doesn't have a chest.

It's gone from the neck down.

  It's like it's evaporated.

  "Girl, you're fucking ... bumped crooked ..."

Then, Yu Sheng was saved from death.

Chapter 13.

Ah, the familiar darkness, the familiar feeling of weight, and the familiar, sinking sensation of consciousness.

Yu Sheng's mind floated in the depths of a chaotic darkness, and along with that heavy feeling of pressure coming from all directions, there was also a sense of helplessness and exhaustion.

He thought that there might be many more twists and turns before he left that "foreign land", and even thought that he might have to "die" more than once, but he guessed the beginning and the end, but he did not guess the process... During the time he spent floating and sinking in the darkness, he couldn't help but recall the last scene he saw before he lost consciousness, the pair of golden-red pupils that reflected in his eyes in that blurring flash, those gorgeous foxtails that blossomed in the night. ...

  And that subsonic headbutt.

So who the hell is that girl who ran herself headlong into the ground? Where did she come from? And why is she in this foreign land?

Also ... what about the changes that happened to his body when he fought that monster? That out of nowhere growth in strength, agility, and ...

  That hungry urge.

  What is happening to myself?

Yu Sheng felt that his thoughts were like a vortex hovering in his mind, and without the constraints of his physical body, these uncontrolled "thoughts" even transformed into all kinds of bizarre visions in front of his "eyes", which were mixed with many memories from the depths - he saw the monster made of countless limbs, and saw the "head hammer" girl with a fox tail and ears that appeared out of nowhere, but the next moment he saw the "head hammer" girl with a fox tail and ears. He saw the monster made up of countless limbs, and then the girl with the fox tail and ears "Headbutt" who appeared out of nowhere, but in the next moment he saw a painting in which Irene In the oil painting, Irene fell in pieces around the seat, a spider's web of silk threads was connected between the limbs of the dolls, and a strange shadow stood in the depths of the picture. ...

Suddenly, Irene disappeared again, and new images emerged from the depths of Yusheng's memories - scarlet clouds and sky, sunlight flowing like water, drenching the familiar old streets and alleys.

Oh, that was the place where Yu Sheng grew up, the "Boundary City" he was familiar with, a small, unremarkable coastal city, where he had left for two months ... But for some reason, when the image in the depths of his memory came back to him, he felt as if it had been a long, long time ago. But for some reason, when the image in the depths of his memory came up, he felt that it seemed to be a long, long time ago, so long ago that it was as if it was the memory of another person, coldly presenting itself before his eyes.

All the images disappeared and eventually only gentle darkness enveloped the surroundings.

Yu Sheng felt his mind clearing slightly, and after a moment's hesitation, he attempted to mentally call, "Erin."

In the darkness, there was no response.

It seems that in his "dead" state, the connection with Irene will be severed.

Immediately afterward, Yu Sheng tried to turn his "sight" to look for other objects in the darkness and to confirm the existence of his own limbs.

He saw nothing, there was nothing here, and he seemed to be a floating "mind" with no body.

  Yusheng silently tries something more.

In his two previous "deaths" he had not had any experience and had returned to "earth" almost in a daze, but this time he began to consciously perceive the process, testing all kinds of conjectures.

He knew that he had been muddled all this time, strange worlds, bizarre phenomena, his own mysteries, and coming back from the dead ... too many things he couldn't figure out stuffed together, leaving him clueless.

But ever since Erin had told him about the concept of the Other Side, he knew he had a purpose again - he wanted to go back, to the "normal" side of the world.

When the holes of the otherworldly occasionally open up to one, the ordinary person crosses the edge of reason and arrives on the other side of normalcy beyond the moment he sees those glimpses of light leaking out of the holes, a process that may be due to getting off at the wrong stop on a bus ride, or taking an extra step down the stairs, or even turning an extra page in a book, misreading a word, and... ...opening the wrong door.

But whatever the reason, the bottom line is that the process is not irreversible.

According to the intelligence revealed by Erin, there were people in this world who were researching the Otherworld, people who had summarized the laws of the Otherworld, and there were even experts who specialized in solving the problems of the Otherworld, and even ordinary people had a chance to return after falling into the Otherworld.

This night-shrouded valley was an otherworldly place, and 66 Sycamore Road, where he now lived, was an otherworldly place, but Yu Sheng thought that his initial contact with the otherworldly place had to be before that-

When he opened the door to his home two months ago, he might have landed in a foreign land called "Boundary City" centered on himself.

Now, he has to explore as much as he can, figure out as much as he can about these strange things, figure out the knowledge related to the foreign world, and then ... get out of this world that is not right.

  So he opened his eyes.

The cold night wind blew through the large hole in the wall, and beyond the half-collapsed roof was a murky canopy.

He sat down in one of the corners of the broken temple, but did not get up immediately, but remained motionless in his newly-awakened position, cautiously sensing everything around him, while trying to catch the memories and "impressions" that were rapidly passing through his mind.

He was trying to remember what he had felt at the moment of his awakening, to identify the boundary where he had returned from the darkness to the "present world".

He feels that this may be the key to understanding how he came back from the dead.

At the very least, it would get him a little closer to the truth of these mysteries.

Vaguely, he began to recall some of the sights he had "seen" in the moments before his awakening; he recalled rising out of the darkness, crossing a shadowy boundary, and then sinking back down toward reality. ... But what happened after that? Between "sinking toward reality" and "opening his eyes"? What happened in that brief moment?

He seemed to see several flashes of images, quick and blurred, and a few of the clearer ones ... included the path near his house, and the front door of 66 Sycamore Road, and ... this corner of the wall located deep in the broken temple.

Yu Sheng's eyelids drooped slightly, his thoughts flattening out in his mind as he bubbled up some conjectures and put them down for the time being, before he exhaled softly and began to move his arms and legs in small increments.

The body was pure and robust, he could even feel the pounds of chi coursing through his veins, he could hear well, see far, and his arms and legs were full of strength - despite the fact that he'd been amputated from the neck down by a subsonic headbutt not too long ago, he was now fully alive and well.

He rose from the corner, ready to call out to Irene.

But in the very next second, he stopped himself hard.

For there was a rustling sound coming from beyond the walls.

Hearing this voice, Yu Sheng's first reaction was - that good-tasting monster even chased after the broken temple?

But soon he felt that something was wrong, for the creature's movements had always been alarming, not cautious like this.

Gently inhaling a breath, Yu Sheng, with a trifle caution, slowly moved to the broken hole in the wall and looked out through it.

The night was deep, but his eyes saw clearly.

He saw a girl, walking carefully among the ruins of the broken temple.

The girl was clad in a tattered robe and skirt that seemed to have once been a gorgeous garment, but was now nothing more than dirty, ragged pieces of cloth, and her long, untended, long, white hair fell in disarray, blocking most of her face, while at the top of the girl's head ... was a pair of fox's pointed ears.

But still, Yu Sheng's eyes fell more behind the girl - those tails - than those fluffy ears.

Foxtail, more than one, but it was hard for Yu Sheng to count exactly how many tails it was from his own perspective - and since the girl looked so wretched, he even suspected that it was one big tail, just socked because it hadn't been combed for too long ...

By now Yu Sheng had certainly recognized it.

  It's that subsonic headbutt.

But the head hammer didn't seem to notice Yu Sheng who was nearby, she just carefully balked at the ruins of the broken temple, twitching her nose from time to time as if she was distinguishing and searching, after a while, she seemed to have found something, and with a flash of light in her eyes she darted off somewhere.

The sound of flipping plastic bags came through the night.

  Yusheng's eyes widened.

It was the bag of food waste that he had brought with him when he was "thrown" into this valley, and he had thrown it inside the ruins.

It was full of leaves and eggshells that had been thrown away during the evening's cooking, and leftovers that had been cleaned out of the fridge earlier.

He peered at the wall and saw the girl with the fox's tail tearing at the plastic bag in surprise but clumsily, only to accidentally spill its contents, and then saw her grab the mess of leftovers inside without hesitation and shove it into her mouth without a second thought -

It was as if it had been starving for many, many years.

Yu Sheng suddenly felt a wave of suffocation.

He didn t know why, but it was hard for him to feel that ... people didn t deserve to be starved like this.

Even if she doesn't look very human.

Even if she had once given herself a headbutt - but she was trying to come to her rescue at the time.

At that moment, the girl seemed to have finally realized that there was a "living person" in the broken temple.

She crouched on the ground, a rotten vegetable leaf in her mouth, and craned her head in shock and nervousness.

Yu Sheng, on the other hand, stood in the corner of the collapsed wall of the broken temple and met her at eye level across the rubble.
