Chapter 19 - Unorthodox Professor

Unorthodox Professor

"Expelliarmus!" Harry shouted as a spell flew quickly toward Einar, who barely moved, making the spell miss.

"Keep going. Only stop if you see me defeated," Einar said quickly.

Then, Harry began to cast the same spell one after another, while Einar, with his arms behind his back, continued to make minimal movements to dodge the spells, which seemed to brush against his clothes as he slowly approached Harry, as if he was simply walking.

"Expe..." Before he could cast another spell, Einar was already standing in front of him and, taking one hand from behind his back, poked him in the chest with a finger.

"Done. You're dead," Einar said with a smile.

Harry stopped with slight exhaustion.

"Well, Harry did great, but where did he fail?" Einar asked again.

Hermione was the only one who raised her hand. Einar, with a smile, allowed her to speak.

"Harry didn't dodge. Or in any case, he kept casting the spell from the same spot without moving at all," Hermione said quickly.

"Well said. 5 points for Gryffindor," Einar said with a smile.

"Yes, but, professor, you didn't have a wand, so I thought..."

"That I was unarmed? That I couldn't hurt you? That without a wand I'm not a threat...? What a foolish thought, Harry," Einar said quickly. "First of all, I'm always armed," he said as a dagger slid from his sleeve into his hand. "And second, if I were a vampire disguised as a human, you'd be lying dry on the ground by now," he added quickly.

"It seems that, besides training you, I'll have to awaken your battle instincts, danger sense, body control, and you're all going to learn how to use a sword at least, in addition to your wand," Einar said while thinking in detail about training plans.

"We're just wizards, why would we need to learn to use primitive weapons like swords?" said a blonde boy arrogantly, smiling sarcastically.

"Oh, really? Then draw your wand before I cut off your head with my dagger, and you'll be approved in my class as long as I'm your professor," Einar said quickly, surprising everyone.

"Ready. Done," Einar said quickly, now several meters away from the blonde boy.

The boy, hearing Einar's words, quickly reached for his wand in his pocket in fear, and as soon as he touched it, he felt something cold barely touching his neck.

"It seems my primitive weapon just killed you, and it's not even a sword," Einar said with a not-so-friendly smile. "You're the son of that man... who will probably remember me in his nightmares forever. I don't like arrogant people who look down on the things I love, and swords are one of them."

Malfoy began trembling, holding back tears that were about to fall, completely filled with fear.

"Relax. I won't harm any of my students unless they do something unforgivable. I just wanted to scare you a little so you'd learn the limits each person has because the only thing I expect most from my students is respect, okay?" Einar said as he quickly put away his dagger. He looked at all the students, who quickly nodded.

"10 points deducted from Slytherin," Einar said as he walked back to the center. Everyone was watching him intently: some with respect and excitement, while others with fear.

But none with disdain or anger. Everyone respected strength, whether in Slytherin or Gryffindor, and Einar had just demonstrated pure strength. Without flashy magic, he moved so fast they didn't even see him. Which meant that, calmly, he could kill them all without them noticing.

And being their professor meant that, being on his good side, they would learn to become strong.

"Well. Now, everyone pair up and cast the spell 'Expelliarmus' at each other. You have to dodge your partner's spell. If the spell hits you, you're dead, and with this feather, I'll make sure you remember it on your forehead. When you improve, we'll have competitions, and I'll give you an enchanted weapon of your choice," Einar said to encourage them.

Everyone was interested in what that enchanted weapon would be.

"Hurry up, we don't have all day," Einar said as the students began to run to find their friends.

Einar noticed that, even though he didn't say they needed to be with people from their own house, Gryffindor and Slytherin students still didn't mix. Even so, he let it pass. He wasn't going to interfere in something that had been happening at the school long before he existed.

Einar looked at a group of three girls who didn't know what to do. It seemed they were the last three, so if they paired up, one of them would be left out, and they were in trouble.

Hermione was with them, thinking about a solution.

"Should we ask the professor if we can do it with the three of us and be done with it?" asked a girl who seemed to be from another country.

"I don't think it's possible. And I'm a bit scared to ask..." said a blonde girl with wavy hair.

"Alright. We can take turns. I'll tell Professor Einar. After all, we have an odd number of students," Hermione said quickly.

"There's no need. Hermione can be my training partner," Einar said, standing behind them.

"Einar… Professor Einar, thank you then," Hermione replied quickly with a smile.

Soon, two rows were formed, each student facing their partner, and at Einar's command, everyone started casting their spells while their partners swiftly dodged them.

There were moments when both students rolled on the floor to dodge without either of them casting the spell, and other times where both wands went flying.

Some of them moved quite well and cast their spells correctly, like Harry, who was training with Ron and managed to disarm him about once every three or four spells.

Ron also seemed better than when he was paired with Neville. Maybe everyone watching him before had made him mess up. But now, he could dodge a couple of spells before getting disarmed.

"Here I go, Professor. Expelliarmus!" Hermione didn't realize Einar was a bit distracted and cast her spell.

Although Einar was distracted, he never lowered his guard, so he simply swatted the incoming spell with his hand as if it were a fly, redirecting it toward Neville, causing his wand to fly away as he looked around, confused.

"Oh, sorry about that. I was watching how your classmates were doing," Einar said quickly to Hermione, who looked at him in surprise since it was the first time she had seen someone do that.

"Can I change partners?" Hermione asked quickly, feeling that her forehead would end up written on by the professor.

"No," Einar said with a smile.

Einar obviously made things easy for Hermione, casting Expelliarmus with a slight delay so she could dodge properly, although he increased the speed as time passed.

Hermione, of course, noticed this, so she was dodging Einar's spells with a smile while quickly launching her own. Some of her spells hit Einar but had no effect.

"That's not fair. You said that when a spell hits you, you're dead," Hermione said quickly, seeing another spell hit Einar without doing anything.

"I said that when you lose your wand, you're dead. That's why we use Expelliarmus," Einar replied quickly.

While Hermione grumbled a bit while dodging Einar's attack, it cost her her wand as it went flying.

"See? Now you're dead," Einar said with a smile.

Then the class ended.

"Alright. Whoever was disarmed more times than their partner, come to the front to receive your punishment," Einar said while holding a feather with a mocking smile.

About half the class left with the word "corpse" written on their foreheads. As the other students passed by in the hallway, they looked at them with curiosity and laughter.

"For Merlin's sake, Harry, I couldn't disarm you even once. You could've given me a chance," Ron said while trying to erase the word "corpse" from his forehead, rubbing it so hard his skin turned red.

"Sorry. I couldn't risk ending up as a corpse," Harry said with a smile as he looked at his friend's forehead.

"And why didn't you get your forehead marked?" Ron asked angrily, looking at Hermione.

"Fighting against a professor is considered highly difficult, so I was pardoned. And Professor Einar said I made great progress in just one class," Hermione replied cheerfully.

"That professor is a psychopath. I'll quickly send a letter to my father," Malfoy said as he was followed by two "corpses": Crabbe and Goyle.

"Do you think Malfoy can get Professor Einar fired?" Hermione asked worriedly.

"Who cares? I don't want to keep getting my forehead marked in all his classes. Maybe it's for the best," Ron said quickly, annoyed.

"You're an idiot," Hermione said as she walked away angrily.

"What's gotten into her now?" Ron asked, confused.

"Well… Sometimes you can be pretty dumb, Ron. I liked Einar's class, and he's a good guy," Harry said, also a little annoyed. After all, Einar was his savior. Then Harry walked away quickly, leaving Ron alone and confused.

"What's their problem now? I told the truth," Ron said quickly.
