i was shocked but still instinctively jumped to another tree shadow nearby as the guard lunged towards us
once reappeared I saw that she also vanished from her spot to appear infront of us

I quickly used my mind arts to push her away while creating more distance between as I move me and saf away
if she also had a movement skill it would be pointless to run from her, it's best to save energy and subdue her then run away
while I didn't use my arts to the fullest the guard strangely was not as effected as I had hoped for
she was forced away but not far
" your highness, ...trying use mind arts on a spirit... if that is all you can do than you really need some...extra protection " the guard said before raising her hand as a multi-colored light gather in her hand before shooting it at me and saf
saf jumped in front of me to try on block the attack but I knew that she wouldn't be able to....
while I trained in my dark elf heritage in the forest, my mother didn't really know a way to train me in my spirit abilities
I didn't know how to utilize them as it seemed that a spirit in this world was almost a natural counter to dark elfs as they have movement skills and magic that can suppress dark magic if the the way my dark magic seem to ..cower? a bit in front of the magic ball headed towards us as I try to gather dark magic to form a shield in front of us...
the shield lasted all of a second before breaking and the ball of magic continuing to shoot towards us
I quickly slammed my mind arts into it....
i didn't know what would happen if I just blocked some unknown magic close range so I had to focus hard to redirect it
it took more effort than I would like to admit but it seemed I was right as not far behind us a small explosion of brilliant light erupted.....
I could feel a cold sweat going down my back as I realized that I shouldn't underestimate her or spirit magic
" impressive.. but not enough " she formed an even bigger magic ball and blasted it at us
i panicked to tried to stop it.....
but it was useless as it shredded through the dark shields, whips, blades, before I shadow travel us to a differnt tree shadow
before I can breathe a sigh of relief though I watched as the ball of multi-colored light changed direction as charged back towards us

saf for her part saw that my magic wasn't effecting her didn't try to also use her magic as she knew she was weaker than me, she stayed on front of me saying " I promised I would protect you, even if I can't take this bit#h, I will still protect you " she said ready to take the magic with her own body
I felt trapped as I watch saf take a step forward toward the incoming magic and i quickly tried to think of what I could create using my creation space to help us, but I was panicking a bit in the face of a real fight and my mind was a mess to think criticality as I didn't know the inherent properties of spiritual magic
if I just summoned a regular wall it may not effect it
just as it was about to reach saf and i was mentally saying the hell with it and creating a tungsten wall, blades of grass grew crazily around us to form a barrier
roots shot out the ground as it help to reinforce the grass shield while also lashing out at the magic ball along with some long or low hanging tree branches
I watched in confusion as our view is obscured by the wall of nature and we soon felt the walls shake but hold against the magic explosion outside
the shield came down soon after and we saw the spirit guard looking frustrated
" tch* ...should have know nature would protect you like this....you are a dark elf and have royal spirit blood in you ... but no matter this is over " she said as a group of beast kin suddenly appeared from the surrounding forest
all had a wide smiles with some mockingly looking at us and others licking their lips

the others just laughed but the spirit guard reprimanded them "you thirsty sl@ts..... one of them is of limits as she is a present to Urla. the other can be used to make them both know ther place " she said and I felt a real chill in my heart
these bit&hes was openly stating what they where planning to do to us....I have heard such talk before .....but what they were planning for saf if caught.....
I felt a heat rise from deep in my stomach before it consumed my entire body
a heard a roaring in my ears as I felt my vision blurr before i became strangely detached from my body....

I watched as an intense iridescent light shined from body

I watched as the light intensified and move to concentrate on the screaming spirit guard

once the light died down I saw that where the guard was, there was now a pool of blood with differnt sized blacked body chuncks that was still adding to the blood pool

with a sense of detachment it looked upon the bloody scene before turning back to my body and saf
saf was staring at my body from behind with wide eyes and a hit of fear.....
before it vanished as she saw my body fall towards the ground
" NOVA!!! " she yelled running forward to catch me
I see her catch and cradle me as my eyes was closed shut
at that moment i felt a suction from my body as I'm pulled back into it...

I perceived darkness before I heard saf crying my name for not far bringing me back to conciseness....
I opened my eyes to see saf looking down at me with tears dripping on my face " YOU IDOIT!!!! DONT SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!!!! " she said before diving into my chest crying even harder
my body was racked with discomfort and exhaustion and I could barely perceive the magic in my body
I can only sumize that what just happened was the activation of one of my racial skills 'Ancient Arua' but instead of me bring in control of it, I just fully released it for the sole purpose to clear the beast kinss while mainly killing the 'traitor'? Who sold us out
I'm in pain and saf was not helping as she was tighly hugging me as if I would dissappear

" I'm sorry saf....I didn't do that on purpose....it just happened when I heard their plans .....for you " I said sheepishly
I didn't want a lecture on me protecting us and I didn't want her to cause me more ....discomfort as her affections right now didnt help. I needed to heal

I didn't hear the rest of who ever yelled that as I was moved to a different location
saf had shadow traveled with me

I could hear behind us as yells were directed at us but they were growing softer and fainter as saf shadow traveled
I could feel my magic coming back but my body was still exhausted so I could only help saf every few jumps to make one of my own as the toll of traveling two people for her was not small
she eventually has to stop as she couldn't go no further
I still could shadow travel us as my magic recovery was better in nature but she wanted to find somewhere for us to rest our bodies
she walked with me on her back with the both of us staying vigilant as we didn't know if we truly escaped our pursuers
we soon see an abandoned house covered in grass, vines, and trees
safs turns her head at me " uuummm do you want to keep looking or try this place out? " she asked uncertainly as while it was secluded, it also had a creep factor to it
I didn't want to keep looking through the forest hoping to find another cave or abandoned house though as it was full on dark now and being out in the open may help our pursuers find us
I slowly nod my head " if it's too bad on the inside we'll keep moving otherwise we can have a place to rest for the night "
saf nods and starts walking forward
when we arrive in front of it I could tell that the forest was ferociously trying to reclaim the house as vines and vegetation grow out of the outside walls and the small porch leading to the door
saf carries us to the door and open it to see much of what I expected
the front room was relatively clean but the furniture was decaying and there was layers dusts everywhere with vines and grass growing in between cracks and holes in the floor
saf walks us through the front room and we see a kitchen with old rusted pots on decaying counter tops and cabinets that was falling apart
walking past into another door in the kitchen we see another smaller room with a broken glass table and rusted metal chairs around it. there was frames on the wall but whatever was inside have already faded as the paper inside them was blurred or unrecognizable
this was a back room as a part of the wall in front of us had a hole in it but on a side wall rested a wooden staircase with rotten boards
" up? " saf asked
I nod and saf walks to then up the staircase making sure to step on the better looking boards
they where still creaking the whole way up but we made it to the next floor safely
on it we saw a small hall leading left and right
on the right was another room with a open door through which we could see kids room with a small bed and toys scattered on the floor in a pile of dust
saf turned left and walked down the small hall passing a dark bathroom and coming to a closed door at the end
opening it we saw it was the master bedroom of the house as it had a big bed with cleaner sheets but still covered in dust
inside the room there was also a decaying dresser, a closet with dirty looking cloths and a small book shelf with rotting books
there was also a window through which moonlight was filtering through from outside
" ssoooo? " saf asked me
I took in the house and this room was ok for us to rest in as it wasn't was bad as I thought
" it will do for now " I said
saf said said nothing but walked over to the bed
" we won't sleep on these sheets right? " she asked worriedly and I chuckled
" I should still have a set of clean sheets in my ring " I said before I reached into it and pulled out my last set
I didn't grab it as I was still exhausted and it fell onto the bed infront of us
saf looked at it than me " would you be OK if I set you on the floor as I make the bed? "
" yea, that's fine " I say as being so close to her for so long was still something I had to get used to
she sat me down and proceeded to change out the old sheets on the bed for the newer ones
I was hypnotized as I watched her move with a subtle grace, moving with a certain...purpose in her eyes while being draped in moonlight.....
when she finished she came back to me and carried me over to the newly made bed
it creaked and groaned as my weight settled on it but it held
" will this thing even hold the both of us? " saf asked eyeing the bed

both me and saf whipped our heads towards the room door to see the fat pug looking beast kin from earlier

I was immediately alarmed and saf quickly positioned herself infront of me
before we could react the fat pig of a bit@h moved with startling speed and got behind saf who was raising her hand to cast her magic at her
my perception slowed down as a saw her hand chop safs neck knocking her out cold
as i watched saf fall to the ground my magic flared violently as I used minds arts to move her from between me and saf but she doesn't budge
WTF?????? how are people resisting my mind arts so easily

she managed to get close enough to where I breathed in some of whatever was on the rag before i shadow traveled to the other side of the room...
but as I in no shape to move at the moment and I collapsed to the floor after jumping
the beast kin turned towards me with a big shit eating greasy grin
