Chapter 76 - Chapter 76 – The Chip War (Part 1)

Haifeng sat calmly, unconcerned.

Zhang Yu, on the other hand, looked uneasy.

"President Lu, this new Snapdragon chip… it looks strong. Are we not going to respond?"

But Haifeng wasn't flustered.

"It's all just PowerPoint slides for now," he said.

"Let them show a real product first."

The specs were impressive—but Haifeng knew better.

"Mass production? Even if they start today, the fastest domestic brands won't ship with it until year's end."

Until then, the Qinglong 810 still ruled the mid-range chip market.

Zhang still looked unconvinced.

"But if they mass-produce it soon, it could impact our market share…"

Haifeng waved it off.

"In the first half of the year, our only real competition is Snapdragon 800.

And even that's not close."

He quoted Lei Jun with a smirk:

"Take life and death lightly. Fight if you disagree."

Behind him? A robust R&D machine and the best chip lab in China.

Zhang hesitated, then changed the subject.

"President Lu… I heard Huawei is releasing a new phone soon."

That caught Haifeng's attention.

"With an in-house chip?"

Zhang nodded.

"It's rumored to be an Honor-series phone using the HiSilicon Kirin 810."

Haifeng's eyes sharpened.

"The Kirin..."

He'd been waiting for this.

If the rumors were true, and if it was the same Kirin 810 from his past life—then Huawei had just joined the real chip war.

Zhang remained skeptical.

"Huawei's past chips weren't impressive. Hot, power-hungry, underwhelming.

I doubt they've made significant progress."

Haifeng didn't argue.

He knew better.

"Huawei is the only other company in China with true full-stack capabilities.

And if the 4G infrastructure matures like I remember… they'll leap ahead of the pack."

In the coming years, Huawei will become a global leader. Why? Because it invested where others hesitated—in long-term R&D.

Zhang gave a skeptical shrug.

"Even so, they can't compete with Qinglong or Snapdragon overnight."

"Still... should we buy one of the new Honor phones after launch?"

Haifeng nodded.

"Get a few. I want to tear them down immediately."

"Let's see if this Kirin 810 lives up to the name in my memory."

Internally, he already viewed this chip war as a four-way battlefield:

Qualcomm Snapdragon – Global leader, massive production

China Star Qinglong – Fastest-growing newcomer, best performance-per-yuan

HiSilicon Kirin – Huawei's comeback engine

Lianfa Ke (MediaTek) – Competitive in low to mid-tier chips

Soon, even Xiaomi's Pengpai chip would enter the fray.

But none of them could be underestimated.

"Chips aren't just tech—they're national strength," Haifeng whispered.

"And this time… we're not backing down."
