Chapter 1 - The attack.

______________

Hayley shut the door softly as she prepared for her daily jog, a routine she followed every morning. "Uncle Andrew is probably still asleep," she thought to herself. "I'll be quick so I can make him breakfast before he wakes up."

She left the house and started jogging through the streets, listening to music on her headphones while sweating profusely. When she finished, she decided to take a shortcut through the woods to get home on time.

As she walked through the woods, she heard a rustling sound behind her. She stopped and turned, but saw nothing. The sound was eerie, so she quickened her pace.

The rustling grew louder, and she realized it was coming from more than one animal. With shaky hands and shallow breaths, she turned to face six wolves, their fur shining like burnished silver in the daylight. Their eyes gleamed with an inner light, and their muscles rippled beneath their sleek coats as they moved.

Fear gripped Hayley as the wolves approached. She backed away slowly, but the closest wolf released a powerful growl. The color drained from her face, and adrenaline kicked in. She turned and started running, but stumbled on a rocky substance and fell to the ground.

Before she could get up, she felt a sharp pain in her back as one of the wolves pounced on her. Panic set in, and she screamed with her eyes shut, directing her fright and anger at the wolf.

Instantly, she felt a surge of energy in her veins. When she opened her eyes, she saw the wolf thrown about 12 meters away, badly injured. This enraged the other wolves, and they charged towards her.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a larger, fiercer wolf with dark fur and golden streaks around its neck jumped in front of her, protecting her from the attackers. Hayley winced at its powerful aura as it turned to glance at her, then faced the other wolves and growled lowly. The ground shook beneath her feet.

The other wolves retreated, and the larger wolf picked Hayley up, carrying her on its back. It signaled her to hold onto its neck, and she obeyed, still confused and shaken.

When they emerged from the woods, the wolf dropped her and sped off. Hayley watched it go, her eyes filled with tears of gratitude.

She felt overwhelmed by her emotions and the events that had transpired. She wondered if she was crazy, but she was certain she had performed some kind of magic on the first wolf that attacked her.

Eventually, she made her way home, opening the door to find her uncle waiting anxiously. He could smell the blood and werewolves on her,as he himself was a werewolf but she wasn't aware and his eyes widened with worry.

"What happened, Hayley?" he exclaimed, rushing outside to check for any signs of danger. He returned, still panicked, and hugged Hayley tightly, waiting for her to calm down.

After an hour, Hayley recounted her ordeal, leaving out no details. Her uncle listened, his expression a mix of shock, fear, and confusion.

"I need to contact our people," he said finally, his voice laced with concern. "But for now, Hayley, there's something you need to know about your past." He knew that it wasn't in his place to say anything but still he realized that she needs to know somethings to an extent especially after what happened today.

He took a deep breath before beginning. "Listen, Hayley..."
