Chapter 15 - Commotion in the city

As if to confirm his words, the demonic cultivator raised his sword above his head while bellowing angrily.

"Be a man and stop dodging, you fucker." Again, he started accumulating a massive amount of demonic qi onto his sword. Adrian, unfazed by his taunts, had already started a mad dash towards him.

While the situation was dangerous, it also presented an opportunity. One that Adrian wouldn't miss. When he was a few dozen meters away from him, the demonic cultivator swung his sword down and sent another sword light towards Adrian.

This time, the situation was more dangerous than before. Adrian had all his senses on alert and was able to react immediately when he saw him swinging his sword.

With all the power he could muster, Adrian leaped high into the air, performing a front flip, right as the demonic sword light wreaked havoc below him. The tip of his clothes made contact with the sword light, singeing them and corroding it with demonic qi.

However, Adrian didn't care about that at the moment. With the momentum from his flip, he brought down his sword onto the leader of the demonic cultivators.

The demonic cultivator, still in shock from witnessing Adrian's daredevil-like action, was too weak and drained to put up any sort of defense. He could only look up, and as his vision became blinded by the silver sword, feelings of fear and regret bubbled up inside him.

Slash!

The silver sword sliced through his head, all the way down to his torso. He was split directly in half. Blood spluttered everywhere as the two parts of his body fell side by side.

Silence.

The whole area fell into silence as the few remaining spectators couldn't believe their eyes. The once dangerous and threatening demonic cultivator now lay on the floor, dead.

The demonic cultivator at the fifth stage of the Foundation Establishment realm felt a wave of fear overcome him as he locked eyes with Adrian, who was already making his way towards him.

He turned around and tried to flee. Big mistake. Within a few breaths, Adrian was right behind him. The stench of blood overwhelmed him as he felt his death drawing closer.

Adrian didn't waste any time on him and swiftly decapitated him. His body kept running for a few more meters before finally collapsing on the ground.

Now, the only one left was the coachman of the carriage. With a cultivation in the qi condensation stage, he wasn't even worth mentioning. Hell, even Jayson could probably take him down.

He knew this as well, which was why he tried to escape using the carriage. However, before he could even try, Adrian had already pounced on him.

With a swift thrust of his sword, he ended his life without mercy. Now it was truly silent. Adrian looked around at the bodies that lay around him.

He then let out a long sigh, as if a load had been taken off his shoulders. This fight had allowed him to relieve some of his pent-up frustrations that had been building up inside him.

Killing these demonic cultivators that took part in the destruction of his family brought him a little happiness.

'It's not much, but its a start.' He thought to himself before slowly wiping off the blood from his sword. He stepped down from the carriage and took the reins of the two magical beasts.

Normally, magical beasts wouldn't allow random individuals to lead them, but this time, it was different. Even with their low intelligence, they could instinctively feel a sense of danger from Adrian.

Coupled with the fact that they had just witnessed his massacre, they were obedient and followed him without fuss. Adrian was naturally happy with this result and patted them gently before turning his attention back to the demonic cultivators.

He went to their bodies and searched them one after the other. The five Foundation Establishment real cultivators all had storage bags tied to their waists. As they were only low-level demonic cultivators, they couldn't even afford storage rings.

The coachman didn't even have a storage bag. He shook his head before leading the two magical beasts to where Jayson and Olivia were hiding.

With the carriage, it only took a few minutes before he reunited with the two kids. The children were naturally happy to see him back, safe and sound. Even though they were far away, they could hear the sounds of fighting from a distance.

The commotion caused by the demonic martial skill terrified them, and they became worried for Adrian's safety. His heart was filled with warmth when he saw how worried the children were for him.

He quickly calmed them down before ushering them into the carriage. Their problem of transportation had been solved, so they didn't have to walk through the forest anymore.

Adrian sat in the front seat and started directing the magical beasts down a different path. He was still worried about the possibility of other demonic cultivators. Sure, he was able to handle it this time, but who could be sure about next time?

What if it were a demonic cultivator in the Golden Core realm or the Nascent Soul realm? He was good, but he wasn't that good. With these thoughts in mind, he whipped the reins and urged the magical beasts to go at their full speed. They continued like that as a whole day passed by in a flash.

Meanwhile, back in Thorne City, a commotion that swept throughout the city had erupted. After the gates were reopened the previous day, everyone thought that all was back to normal.

However, this morning, a shocking truth was discovered that shook the whole city to its core. Previously, when the demonic cultivators left the city, they didn't deactivate the illusion array.

This left it with enough power to remain active for one more day. It was a high-level array, but they had no choice. They had to leave it behind in order for their escape plan to work.

When the residents of the city woke up the next morning, the array had already run out of energy, and the residents of the city could naturally see what had happened.
