That night, Inspector Rehan and two constables accompanied them to the alley.
Areeba's stomach churned. She was terrified they would find nothing, that the dogs would be gone—that she'd look insane.
But when they arrived, the dogs were there.
And so was the white cloth.
Rehan's expression turned grim.
One of the constables stepped forward and nudged the cloth with his baton.
A rotting smell filled the air.
Something fell out.
A human finger.
Zoya gagged.
Sana screamed.
The constables stepped back, their faces pale.
Rehan cursed under his breath. He pulled out his radio. "I need forensics at Saddar Block C. Now."
But before he could say more—
The dogs growled.
Low. Deep.
A chill ran down Areeba's spine.
She turned—
And saw it.
The shadow.
It stood at the alley's entrance, watching.
