Chapter eight
Serena & Zeeland
Serena
My eyes slowly fluttered open, I rolled on my side and fully opened my eyes to adjusting to my surroundings. The place is so dark courtesy of the closed curtains. Is it still night? I wondered as I climbed down the bed.
I pushed aside the closed curtains and took a peep outside, everywhere was dark save for the lights here and there. I exhaled sharply and walked out of the room.
As if he's been expecting me to walk out anytime, Michael beamed at me and held out his hand for me to hold onto to but I rejected his offer and took a step backwards inside the room. "You're awake? You've been sleeping for a long time, are you okay?"
"Where is Zeeland?" I asked him.
He was mute for a moment so I asked again. "Didn't you hear me? I asked where Zeeland is."
"Something urgent came up, he went to make right everything. He would soon be back."
"Something urgent came up?" I repeated then scoffed. "When is he coming back?"
"Well, I can't really say. Maybe in a week time." He said and I nodded. I would prefer not to see his annoying face for a while.
I walked past him heading to God knows where, I'm not yet familiar with my environment and I kind of intend on doing so while Zeeland is away. "You've been sleeping for a whole day, aren't you going to take a bath first before taking a tour?"
I turned around. "Why didn't you follow your master to wherever he went to?" I asked instead ignoring his question.
"He's not my master, I would prefer you call him my best friend."
"Whatever." I said with an eye roll.
I allowed him take me to the dining room where against my wish, he made me dinner. "Thank you, I mumbled and dragged forward the plate of pasta mixed with curry sauce.
"So, are you two the only people living in this house?" I asked him as I chewed on my food.
He raised a brow. "With me included, are you both only the people living in the house?"
He nodded. "Zeeland hates rowdy places. He prefers to be left alone most times. I tried convincing him to at least take a chef but my efforts didn't as much as make a scratch on his brain. Anyways I knew it wouldn't work before I tried convincing him."
"Why? How did you know it wouldn't work? Is it because you know how to cook?"
He shook his head. "This food I made for you, I learnt it from Zeeland."
I mouthed an 'oh' and drank a healthy quantity from my juice. "That solves the reason why he didn't take a chef, what about the cleaning of the house?" I asked.
"A cleaner comes three times every month to clean up the entire house." He answered calmly as if he's somehow telling me he's in no rush and would answer as many questions as I could ask.
"What about the guards?"
"They have their quarters a little outside the penthouse, it's somehow hidden and complicated, I don't know how to explain it to you "
"It's fine. Your answer is okay." I opened my mouth to fire him another question when the watch strapped around his hand vibrated and he suddenly sprang up to his feet.
My eyes followed him up. "What's wrong?" I asked.
He muttered a quick curse I almost wouldn't have heard it. My eyes followed him out as he scurried out of the dining area and went outside. I scraped off the last bit of good on my plate, drank my juice and walked up to the living room to sit and wait for Michael.

"Mitchell, you can't go in there. Zeeland wouldn't take it likely with you if he returns and meets you here." I overheard Michael talking to someone outside.
Well, trust me. No scuffle no matter how small it is can escape my ears. I jumped up from the sofa and jogged to the window just as the door pushed open and a lady cat walked in sashaying her hips from left to right.
Like a kid caught stealing, I quickly walked away from the curtains and stood looking from Michael who kept mumbling 'you have to leave' to the lady.
I wonder who the hell she is. Zeeland's sister. I quickly ruled that one out. If she's his sister, Michael won't bother telling her to leave.
Ah, now I know. Probably Michael's girlfriend or Zeeland's ex girlfriend. Celyn snarled at the thought of having Zeeland's girlfriend staying in his house.
"And why is this trash staring at me?" The supposed Zeeland's ex girlfriend asked eyeing me from head to toe, an action I find very irritating.
Michael flashed me an apologetic smile then turned back to miss supposed ex girlfriend resuming his mantra.
To me, she doesn't look like someone who's ready to leave. Well, they can continue their talk without my presence.
I moved to walk away but Michael was quick to cast a look my way just as miss supposed ex girlfriend walked up to me and asked who I was and what I'm doing in her fiancèe's house.
Fiancèe, what fiancèe is she talking about?
I looked at Michael immediately but he threw away his face, a confirmation that what she said is true. I felt weak immediately. So he had a fiancèe already and he seriously had the guys to ask me to be his wife. Seriously.
But wait a minute, why am I even feeling hurt by the revelation when I'm not his girlfriend just a contract wife. Maybe truly he did proposed to her and made her his fiancèe but then he also could have asked me to be his wife in the first place just to protect him if in case something like this happens.
I plastered on a sweet smile and said. "Zee never told me he had a fiancèe."
"Had?" She repeated and threw my way a murderous glare.
I nodded. "Yes. I've been his woman for three years now and for once he's never talked about you so I think you must have come the wrong place because my Zee would never hide the fact that he had a woman from me."
I mentally clapped for myself when I saw the partially defeated look on her face. And just when I thought it was over, she walked out and returned with her suitcase.
I exhaled sharply. I almost forgot an ex would always want to return back to the relationship when a small opportunity presents itself. She didn't make it upstairs as a car screeched to a halt making her halt on her tracks.
"I thought you said he isn't retuning until after a week?" I asked Michael who simply shrugged and started for the door but not until he said. "He's the only one capable of dealing with the annoying pest."
I don't know why, trust me I really don't know why I smiled at him immediately I my eyes landed on his face. For a brief moment he stood staring at me before taking it towards miss supposed girlfriend who had already has her arms wrapped around him.
My palm subconsciously close into a fist ready to punch the stupidity out of her but a thought crossed my mind and right before my brain could process what I was doing miss supposed girlfriend was already on the ground withering in pain while my lips were fused with Zeeland's lip.
He didn't in anyway try to push me away, he snaked his hand around my waist and dragged me forward kissing me like his life depended on it.
