The desert night pulsed with the force of clashing powers, the golden sands shifting beneath Kael's feet as he squared off against the Disciple of Light. The spear-wielding warrior stood firm, celestial radiance pouring from his form like a beacon against the darkness.
Kael, in contrast, exuded something darker, something ancient. Azazel's power coiled within him, not just celestial might but the abyssal force of a fallen Seraph. The divine chains wrapped around his forearms pulsed with shadowy energy, their obsidian links glinting under the moonlight.
The Disciple moved first, vanishing in a blur of speed. Kael's eyes barely caught the motion before the spear came crashing down. He twisted his body, dodging by inches as the sand beneath his feet exploded from the impact.
Kael retaliated, the dark chains extending from his arm like whips, striking with inhuman precision. The Disciple whirled his spear, parrying the attacks in a dazzling display of light and speed. Each collision sent shockwaves rippling through the desert.
"You wield the power of the fallen," the Disciple intoned, knocking a chain aside. "It does not belong to you."
Kael scoffed. "Too bad. It's mine now."
Another flurry of strikes. Kael ducked under a horizontal sweep, his chain wrapping around the spear mid-motion. The Disciple twisted his wrist, breaking free before the restraint could tighten. Kael's instincts were sharp, but the Disciple was battle-forged, centuries of combat distilled into every motion.
Above them, the other Demi-Gods raised their hands, golden glyphs forming in the air. A shimmering barrier materialized, sealing the battlefield from the outside world. There would be no interference.
Kael gritted his teeth. He needed to push harder.
Darkness surged around him, the aura of Azazel's presence growing denser. He shot forward, feinting with his left before launching a brutal right hook enhanced by his chains. The Disciple sidestepped, but Kael followed through with a sweeping kick, catching him off guard. The Demi-God staggered back, and Kael capitalized, sending his chains lashing toward him in a rapid flurry.
The Disciple countered, his spear spinning like a radiant cyclone. Sparks of divine and abyssal energy crackled through the air as their weapons clashed. Kael moved with newfound fluidity, Azazel's instincts merging with his own, guiding his attacks with lethal grace.
Then, the Disciple made a fatal mistake.
He lunged forward with a thrust aimed at Kael's heart. Instead of dodging, Kael twisted his body just enough to let the spear graze him while his chain coiled around the Disciple's wrist. Before the Demi-God could react, Kael wrenched him forward and delivered a devastating elbow strike to his throat.
The Disciple choked, his stance breaking. Kael didn't hesitate. His chains wrapped around the Disciple's torso like a serpent constricting its prey. The more he struggled, the tighter they bound.
"This is over," Kael said, his voice dark with finality.
The chains pulsed, shadows seeping into the Disciple's form. His celestial radiance flickered, then dimmed. His essence pure divine energy was being drawn into Kael which also came as a surprise to him himself. He didn't know the chains had such an ability but that didn't mean he would let this golden chance escape. Although he knew the battle was over with the disciple of light, he couldn't say same for the other demi gods watching in the sky so he needed every ounce of power he could get not knowing that this was actually a mistake that could possibly l as to his death in itself.
A strangled cry escaped the Disciple's lips before his body went still. The golden light in his eyes faded, and the chains retracted, leaving only a lifeless husk behind.
Kael staggered, his entire body shaking. Power coursed through him, burning and reshaping. The celestial energy warred with Azazel's abyssal force, twisting his very being. He clenched his fists, his vision darkening at the edges. But he stood firm with his teeth clenched and his eyes fixed on the demigods above.
He knew within himself that if he let his predicament become know then he would die for sure. Well, he wasn't completely sure that he would live even if the Demi gods choose not to attack, but he was placing his bet on scaring them away since they were already wary of him before even coming and after seeing the fate of the disciple of light, they should be more on guard…. right??
Above, the Demi-Gods watched in silence. Then, one by one, they withdrew, vanishing into the night. They had seen enough.
Kael dropped to his knees, gasping. His mortal body was struggling to contain the forces battling within him. His muscles clenched involuntarily, bones cracking, reforming.
ARGGHHHH!!!
He couldn't help but release a blood curdled scream as cracks appeared all over his body, he hadn't fully assimilated with Azazel's power yet since he swallowed him whole, bother body and soul and essence. And now he took on a celestial essence that was half way into godhood.
A voice yelled in the distance."Kael!"
Elara saw everything that happened, from what she had learned this past half a year with him, she could already guess what had happened.
She ran to him, ignoring the battlefield's eerie stillness. Kneeling beside him, she gripped his shoulders.
"Stay with me!!." She kept yelling as she gripped his shoulders tight to her body, she was clueless as to what to do to aid his situation.
Kael barely registered her presence. His body convulsed as the transformation took hold. It wasn't just strength, it was something more, something beyond mortal comprehension.
Elara pulled his arm over her shoulder. "We need to get you out of here. Now."
With immense effort, she dragged him toward the shadows of the pyramid, away from prying eyes.
The battle was won, but Kael's war had only just begun.
Her brows furrowed as she could see his body twitching and trembling violently, she had made him bite on a piece of cloth else he would have been screaming through the desert by now.
His eyes was bloodshot, veins bulged along his head down his neck as the cracks spreader.
The golden cracks covered his body at lightening speed before it began to slow, and with each passing minute his struggles became more violent and powerful that Elara had to let go.
"please hang in there Kael, don't give up, we still have many adventures to go on, you're almost there"
She mumbled quietly as her eyes was fixed on Kael whose body was now becoming less violent and still.
He looked like he would crumble to dust if touched with even the littlest of force. But his clenched fist and teeth and muffled groans was what showed he was still hanging on.
