Chapter 5 - Chapter 7: The Abyss of Forgotten Gods

Kael's body jolted as he landed on solid ground—or what passed for it in this realm. A vast, shifting plane stretched before him, its surface rippling like liquid light. Above him, the sky was an endless void where stars twisted and danced in unnatural patterns.

But it was not silent.

Whispers slithered through the air, voices from countless ages past. Some pleaded, some wept, and some laughed in eerie, hollow tones.

A structure loomed in the distance, massive and ancient. Its architecture defied logic, shifting between monolithic grandeur and decayed ruin as if caught between time's grip. This was no ordinary place. This was the Abyss of Forgotten Gods.

Kael felt something pull at his very essence, like invisible tendrils reaching into his soul. He staggered but remained firm. If this was where fate had brought him, he would face it.

He stepped forward, and the whispers grew louder.

"A mortal dares to walk the abyss… how amusing."

The voice was not a whisper—it was deep, resonant, and ancient. Kael turned to see a figure materialize from the darkness. Towering, with a form woven from shifting constellations and shadow, it had no true face, only a swirling void where eyes should be.

"Who are you?" Kael demanded, gripping his pendant.

"I am the Warden of the Abyss, keeper of the forsaken gods. And you… are an anomaly."

The Warden raised a hand, and the stars around Kael trembled. The space before him cracked open, revealing a city long lost to time—a city of titanic beings, now imprisoned in crystalline chains.

"These are the gods that fell when the paradox began," the Warden said. "Their knowledge is forbidden, but you seek the truth, don't you?"

Kael hesitated, but his resolve was unwavering. "I do."

The Warden chuckled. "Then step forward, mortal. If you can survive the Trials of the Forgotten, the knowledge of the gods shall be yours."

The air around Kael shimmered, and the ground beneath him shifted. The first trial had begun.

And failure meant oblivion.
