Chapter 8 - Champion of Mo'gun

My headache had stopped, but my eyes couldn't be glued away from the scene of wonder.

The head of the Sokyro clan, along with the other two calmly descended the ground, and walked towards the podium. With each step the air around them only grew stronger.

Even in the presence of Regen's pressure, I felt my chest tighten. My hands trembled.

A smirk appeared on my face, this was what I have been craving for.

Not the usual fun, but something more.

I recalled my gaming days, I was a winner, one of a kind. People talked about how I could make it big, but I had stopped. And that same thrill, which I had left behind, had come back to me.

As they reached the start of the podium, the head of the Sokyro Clan stopped. The other two however, continued till they were standing alongside the man in white.

Each had their own swords that radiated an equally strong energy in the air.

The trio looked in the direction of the head of Sokyro House.Everyone looked at them with equally bated breath.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Watching the trio of strong ones, bowing to the head of Sokyro House. The scene looked unreal to me.

"Marcus Chambers, the head of Chambers, greets the Champion of Mo'gun."

The man in white stabbed his sword, a curvy sword in the engraved area. A strong sense of power spread from the move, like a wave flowed throughout the hall. A black sword shined, and a vision appeared in my mind.

A black tiger, his eyes feral in yellow, glared in the direction of the sky and roared. Its roar pierced through the sound, winds retreated in its presence. As its bloodlust caused everyone on earth to bow in its presence.

"Jou Meddlecast of the Meddlecast House. This old man greets the Champion of Mo'gun."

Nextly the old man with a flowy beard, took out the sword from its place. A simple sword, with a decent looking handle, even without the old man's involvement, the sword spun in its axis. As the sword continued to spin faster and faster, it stabbed into the engravings with a burst of the power. The sudden blast of power engulfed me and I saw a vision in its place.

A wheel stood in the air. It continued to revolve in the air, and it watched as everything changed around it. A cycle that starts and ends, in a continuous fashion. The wheel knows what has happened, what is happening and what is going to happen.

"Zenken Thunderford, the leader of Thunderford House. The guard keeper greets the Champion of Mo'gun."

And lastly the man with a strong build, with cloud as pattern on his body, clasped his hands, and in the place, the sword beneath his feet, escaped going through the skies. At first it looked slow, but as it continued the cloud escaped from the path to follow behind the sword. The clouds grew darker, as thunder echoed in its place. And then the cloud trail, aimed for the earth, the very place where a place was left for the sword itself. And then again a vision engulfed me.

A cloudform, thunder, quaked from the skies, spitting the earth and everything around it. Such was the nature of devastation. To show the grief, nature weeps in tears as downpour engulfs the earth.

The trio bowed from their place. And then I saw everyone around me, doing the same thing, just that this time there was no fancy swordplay.

Regen took my head and I had to bow forcefully.

"We greet the Champion of Mo'gun."

They called, I just lip synced it. Hell if I knew what to say beforehand.

And then the head of Sokyro House started climbing the podium, he was above others, but just below the throne. He looked in the direction of the throne, and bowed. I thought that he would be sitting on the throne, but no, he just silently placed his own sword in the engraving and then went down to stood among the trio.

"Why did he not do anything?"

I was really disappointed to say the least. I mean, that sure was entertaining to watch all these people do incredible, supernatural stuff. And I was sure that the head would show something equally majestic, yet nothing happened.

"Silence." Regen berated in a low voice. And I saw everyone looking in my direction.

Did I say it too loud? Well there was no space left to hide my face, when even the head of the four super families were looking in my direction.

I was screwed.

Yet something happened that took everyone's attention.

The four swords resonated with each other, and something left the three swords and merged with the fourth sword.

The beam of light, expanded vertically from the lava sword till it pierced the skies.

Seriously what was the stuff with the skies.

Different colours swirled together, each coagulating towards the centre of the beam, and then everything ended.

"I Alysys Sokyro the Current Champion of Mo'gun, sends the tributes to the skies. The nature of the tributary returns everything, the Mo'gun, looks at us from beyond the skies, and cheers us with the duty to uphold the sword. Let this be the occasion where sword greets the swords. Let the sword say it's calling. Let the 324th Tributary begin."

As Alysys the head stopped speaking and a humongous roar of cheers spread through the hall. Even beyond the halls, in the seating of the Sword Gazing, the people cheered, as they saw the energy being sent through the skies.

I just took the sight, while another kind of dread creeped at me at an intense realisation.

They were so strong. I mean the other three heads of the super strong sword families were already so strong, and then there was the head of Sokyro house, who was also the champion of Mo'gun.

Whatever that Mo'gun maybe.

What could threaten them really?

While everyone celebrated the successful commencement, I was sweating bullets. Now he had a grasp of the extent of the chaos described by the system, that would surely cause others to feel threatened. Then what about me?

I don't think I could stand up to even the weakest of the soldiers.

I was definitely screwed.

It was then the white man took the task of speaking.

"I know about the rumors that have started to appear through the Sword world. But at last, those rumors are just rumors. With the blessings of Mo'gun, we can ascend the misgivings and confusion that keeps up in the dark. For that occasion let's hear once more about the tale of Mo'gun. The one who ascends the skies, and looks at us, cheering for the day we meet him, upholding the duty of sword…"

"The tale takes us back. To talk about the heretics, who defied the way of sword, and how they endangered our world. The Sword World. And how bravely our ancestors had fought those with Mo'gun leading them to save our world."

While the head of Chambers continued to preach, I looked at the sword that sat beneath the throne. The one that actively seemed to be melting lava. The yellow outline lit up, but I was hesitant this time.

Last time I used it on someone powerful, I got a headache. I could still feel the lingering effects.

"Well whatever."

I activated the information window.

No headache came.

Instead, I was transported somewhere else.

I stood and looked around bewilderedly as a man came running with a sword in his hand.

Before I even had the chance to react, he swung his sword in my direction.

Fuck.
