Coiled at the base of a massive tree trunk was a three-meter-long python. Its body was covered in dark iron-like scales, patterned with brown and black stripes, and it remained eerily still as it watched Xiao Wu.

The snake tensed as it met Xiao Wu's gaze, slowly unwinding from the trunk. Its glossy black scales shone like finely forged steel, a sign of its natural defenses.
"It looks like the wire python wants you for dinner, little rabbit," Lin Bai teased. "Since you think of yourself as a spirit beast, maybe you should let it have its meal."
Xiao Wu shot him a glare. "Hmph. Beasts like this used to show respect when they saw me. This one's made of metal… Do you want it?"
She was clearly annoyed, but her words also carried a casual offer—if Lin Bai wanted the python's spirit ring, she had no problem getting rid of it.
Lin Bai didn't think the wire python was a good match for him, but he activated his Eye of Appraisal to check its compatibility with his twin martial spirits.

Xiao Wu clapped her hands, feigning nonchalance, though Lin Bai could tell it had cost her some energy. She refused to show weakness, though, keeping up her air of confidence. "Let's go. It'll wake up soon. I'll take you to a more suitable soul beast."
Lin Bai smiled. "Fine. I'll reward you with a carrot."
He pulled a freshly washed carrot from his storage ring and offered it to her.
"Hmph, as if you can bribe me with—" Crunch.
Xiao Wu took a bite before she even finished her sentence. When she noticed Lin Bai's amused stare, she quickly masked her expression, picking up her pace to lead the way.
Lin Bai followed, expanding his telekinesis scan to a hundred meters in all directions. If a ten-thousand-year-old soul beast approached, he'd have time to react.
Up ahead, Xiao Wu finished the carrot in no time. She blinked, tempted to ask for another, but held back. She reallyshouldn't have eaten it so quickly—now she wanted more.
She made up her mind: once Lin Bai found his soul beast, she'd make sure he compensated her properly.
Energized by the thought, she raised her head and scanned the towering trees.
After three hours of walking, Xiao Wu suddenly stopped beneath a massive tree with a three-meter-wide trunk. She tugged on Lin Bai's sleeve and pointed upward.
Lin Bai followed her gaze.
A massive baboon, four to five meters tall, perched on the thick branches. Its face was fierce, with sharp canines protruding from its mouth, and its entire body was covered in thick, copper-red fur.

Lin Bai took a deep breath, focusing his energy. His first soul ring lit up, and the Thirteen Ruyi Universe Spears floated around him, their surfaces gleaming with cyan light. He activated his telekinesis, keeping it contained as he gathered power.
Up in the tree, the baboon stirred. It had been in a light sleep, but the sharp energy radiating from below jolted it awake.
"Ooooouhh!"
With a furious roar, the King Kong Baboon leapt from the fifty-meter-high branch.
Lin Bai remained calm, his gaze filled with disdain. No wonder these beasts were nearly wiped out. Even with its Madness ability doubling its power, its defense couldn't withstand Ultimate Gold—a force specialized in piercing.
As the baboon plummeted toward him, Lin Bai executed his plan.
With a flick of his fingers, thirteen golden spears shot into the air.

Golden streaks pierced through the beast's heart, skull, spine, and lower abdomen. Blood sprayed through the air as the massive body crashed to the ground.
A faint purple glow appeared above the corpse—its soul ring.
