Chapter 6 - A fearsome other

"Primeboy! Primeboy! Primeboy! Primeboy!" The crowd cheered.

Ardlan couldn't hear the flow of electricity any longer, the force field had been deactivated. The instant he realized this, he zoomed out, and flew to the path where he had left his colleagues.

He scanned around for them, and knowing that the gold twins were a haughty pair—much too sophisticated to share bleachers with sweaty plebeians, he knew that they had to be somewhere else, somewhere for people of their caliber.

He blinked, activating his enhanced sight. He made few turns, and he registered the heat signatures of the gold twins, and he was about to spring into action when he stopped himself. If they were with really important people then it might be a bad idea to barge in.

"I need to get this changed." He mumbled to himself, stuck on what to do.

"Was the Hipemodron your fighter?" Aelius questioned. Unlike his sister, he remained standing, imposing his tough presence.

"Yes, but he was not my only one. I have another, this one impressive and sure to put your Primeboy in place. You should have seen him decimate a few opponents. Now tell me, your fighter, who really is he?"

"He didn't seem particularly interested in fighting. There was a rigidity to him." Domitia commented.

"Oh please, he chose this and I gave him an opportunity."

"A fighting hipemodron is a rare sight, a shame Primeboy killed him." Aelius said blankly, his face stoic.

The sponsor knew Aelius was mocking him subtly and his small black eyes jutted out slightly in annoyance. Unlike Tundi, his voice was more quiet, and shaky from age.

"Tell me Andus, who is this fighter of yours that threatens ours?"

Andus chuckled lightly, striking his iron seat.

"Wepènè the silver lance," Andus spoke, his face parting to reveal a shrewd smile.

The twins looked at each other, disturbed by the Hipemodron's expression, Andus was not one to joke around. If he was confident in this fighter, then they had to be a force to reckon with.

"I have to attend to my fighter now, Aelius will keep you company, and I am certain the other sponsors are eager for your company." Domitia spoke, getting off her metal chair.

Her AG boots flared with a subtle blue glow flying her out of the room. As soon as she did, her eyes met Ardlan's, he had been expecting her.

Crowds of new fans surrounded him, and though he responded well to their attention by keeping a straight face and ignoring his appearance, Domitia could see that he was uncomfortable. It was time for her to step in.

She zoomed to him, and caught his hand in the air, and he went afloat, drifting to her pull.

They got to the metal doors, and with a scan on their bodies by the ai system, the vault doors came open and they were let out.

"Let's get your suit replaced."

The noise from the activities on the planetoid permeated everywhere and it was disconcerting, especially for individuals with enhanced hearing such as them three.

"You did well there, Ardlan, the Hipemodron was tough."

"You know, I didn't think I would be risking my life when I signed up for this."

"Oh come on, don't be a yenth larva. Anyone that could kill you with a move would be at the capital cooped up with the royal guards, or expanding the empire, not in an orbitless slum like Ennoone."

Ardlan chuckled, "I suppose you're right about that."

The two soared to the trooper, no alien prostitute in sight. Maxine scanned Domitia's face once they got to the hatch.

"Welcome Domitia."

"Maxine, generate the last spandex suit you made on this guest."

Holographic blue light scattered from the roof of the shuttle and fell on Ardlan. The damaged spandex on him got undone by the light as the new one replaced it.

"Good as new. Now let's get you in the ring" Domitia commented.

The two got into the pit, and met a match in place—more of a beat down than a match.

"Who the hell is that?!"

Domitia looked intently, clicking her tongue. She knew who it was instantly despite it being her first time sighting him.

"Andus's fighter, the Silver Lance."

"Silver Lance?"

His silver hair shifted between states—fluid and flowing when needed, yet solid and weighty at will. It ebbed from his head, catching the surrounding light in shimmering waves. He was tall, and he was brown-skinned. His body was shaped like a human-god statue made for worship, he was the right kind of muscular, not too large, not too lanky, and just by the mere sight of them, one could tell they packed so much power.

He had on a thin silver suit made from nanobites—an outfit his hair complimented, and it ran from his feet to his shoulders, leaving his large arms for the audience to gaze.

His opponent, an unintelligent yet lethal creature, a Dikaurukzus—a wild velociraptor looking creature, except that it was larger and more vicious. To see another best it so easily was hard to believe.

The wild beast jumped backwards creating a gap between them both, it looked to the invisible field behind it and then to its near invincible opponent realizing that it was cornered.

It roared, revealing its multitudinous sharp teeth, and then it lunged at the Silver Lance.

The superhuman jumped and threw down a fist on the creature's snout plummeting it. He then held it up at its jaw and slammed it on the force field repeatedly, electricity crackling.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The field flared in blue light with every strike, the creature's tough hide tearing and burning away in unison, until he struck even harder, and the Dikaurukzus's head snapped off its body, the field claiming it momentarily as bolts surged through it.

"He is strong." Ardlan commented.

"Very, for a genetically engineered human. Andus, that bastard."

"Who's Andus?"

"His sponsor and a competitor, do you think you could beat him?" Domitia turned, staring at Ardlan in the eye.

He turned to the fighter, skimming through his features.

"Do you want to back off now?"

"I should but I want to battle this Silver Lance. Let's see who's superior."

"I am sure your mother would be proud."

"No she won't." Ardlan interjected. Laxia would hate that he was ever there.

"He's facing another, keep an eye on how he fights." Domitia commented before drifting off to where she had come from.

"Silver Lance," Ardlan mumbled, the name felt slightly familiar.
