Following the establishment of their alliance,
Bose, Varun, and the senior INA officers gathered around a large world map.
Varun, with a focused intensity, began marking various Indian and South Asian territories.
The officers exchanged puzzled glances, wondering at his purpose, but Bose, his mind sharp and analytical, sensed a deeper meaning.
As Varun's markings spread across the map, Bose noticed a pattern.
Some of the marked locations coincided with active battlefields where the Axis powers (specifically Japan and the INA in this context) clashed with the Allied forces (USA, UK, France, Italy, USSR, China). Varun then began to carefully study the remaining marked areas.
Finally, Varun stopped, turning to the officers. 'Do you know what these places are?' he asked, pointing to the frontline locations. The officers, after a moment of realization, nodded in understanding.
'And do you know why I marked these other areas?' he inquired, gesturing to the remaining points. They shook their heads, their curiosity piqued.
Varun then turned to Bose. 'Netaji, do you have any insight?'
Bose, his gaze fixed on the map, replied, 'Looking at the geographical locations, they appear to be strategic points. Locations of significant tactical importance.'
Varun nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. 'Precisely.
Varun's voice cut through the tense silence. 'We have an alliance,' he began, addressing Bose and the officers, 'and we share the goal of liberating India'.
'But while our objectives align, the same cannot be said for Japan.'
They support us because we, the INA, are engaging the British on their front lines.'
'They see a mutually beneficial situation, where our forces alleviate their burden. However, the reality for us is far more complex.'
He paused, his gaze sweeping across the map. 'We are not merely fighting the British.'
'We are facing the combined might of the Allied forces: the USA, the UK, Russia, France, and Italy. We risk sacrificing our soldiers in battles against enemies we barely know.'
He then shifted his attention to the global context of the war.
'Consider the current state of affairs. Initially, there were three major fronts:
Asia, where Japan faced the Allies;
Europe, where Germany faced the Allied and Italy who took forefornt at the Mediterranean.'
'But the landscape has drastically changed.'
'Italy has switched sides. Hitler is dead, and the European fronts have collapsed.'
'Now, it's essentially Japan versus the entire Allied force.'
'By aligning ourselves with Japan, we are effectively pitting ourselves against the combined might of the USSR, the USA, Italy, and France, in addition to the British.'
'Is this what we envisioned when we sought freedom from British rule?'
Varun's voice resonated with a grim determination.
'That's why,' he stated, 'we must find a way to extricate ourselves from our current alignment with Japan.'
'We need to demonstrate our independent position to the world, thereby reducing the number of adversaries we face.'
'Ideally, we should be fighting only the British. However, we cannot abandon Japan outright at this moment.'
'We must utilize this alliance to expel both the Allied forces and the British from northeastern India – Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, and surrounding regions.'
He paused, his gaze sweeping across the room.
'To achieve this, we need a strategic shift. We must execute a series of critical objectives, and their successful completion will signal our victory against the British.'
'First, we must seize and hold key strategic points, the locations I have marked on this map.'
'These positions will allow us to neutralize Allied and British forces while establishing our dominance.'
'Second, we need to dismantle their intelligence network and establish our own superior intelligence gathering capabilities.'
'This will give us a decisive advantage on the battlefield.'
'Third, we must divert their personnel and resources. We can achieve this by instigating uprisings in Burma and India, particularly in the northeast.'
'This will force them to deploy their backup forces and resources to quell these rebellions, leaving their front lines vulnerable. '
'Fourth, we must sever their supply chains. This will significantly shorten the duration of the war on the front lines,
as they will either have to cease operations until they receive reinforcements or temporarily retreat to replenish their supplies.'
'Fifth, we require specialized trainers to instruct our soldiers in guerrilla warfare tactics and coded communication.'
'This will enable them to adapt to the challenging terrain of the northeast, with its valleys and dense forests, ideal for guerrilla operations.'
'Finally, we need to equip ourselves with the best available weapons, tools, and traps.'
'I can provide some assistance, but for large-scale production,
I need loyal individuals with expertise in blacksmithing and technology, so I can design efficient production lines.'

Varun paused, letting his words sink in.
He then looked directly at Bose and the assembled officers.
'So,' he asked, his voice firm but laced with anticipation,
'what is your opinion on this plan? As I have outlined, if we proceed according to this strategy, I am confident we will see victory before the sun rises on the next year.'
The room fell into a tense silence as Bose and the officers absorbed Varun's ambitious plan. The weight of his words hung in the air, a mixture of hope and daunting reality.

Bose's Reaction:
Bose, his brow furrowed, paced slowly around the map, his gaze lingering on the strategic points Varun had marked.
He was a master strategist himself, and he recognized the logic behind Varun's proposal.
The idea of extricating themselves from the Japanese alliance, while risky, held the promise of a more independent and powerful INA.
"Varun," Bose began, his voice measured, "your plan is… audacious. It demands a level of coordination and resourcefulness we have not yet fully achieved.'
'But I cannot deny its strategic merit. You are right, we cannot afford to be mere pawns in Japan's game. We need to forge our own destiny."
He paused, his eyes narrowing. "However, your timetable is ambitious. Victory within a year? That will require a near-perfect execution of every stage."
