Chapter 18 - Chapter 16.75: The Trail Begins

Leonard, his jaw clenched, stared at the corrupted presentation files on his laptop. He knew someone had deliberately sabotaged him, but the question was, who? And why?

He began his investigation by retracing his steps, reviewing the security footage from the conference room. He watched as Nathan slipped into the room while he was grabbing coffee, his movements swift and precise. He watched as Ethan entered the room, his eyes narrowing as he saw Nathan at his laptop.

He paused the footage, his eyes fixed on Nathan's face, his expression cold and calculating. He replayed the scene several times, analyzing Nathan's movements, his body language.

"It was him," he muttered, his voice low, laced with a quiet fury. "He did this. But why?"

He knew Nathan didn't like him, but he hadn't expected him to resort to sabotage. There had to be a deeper motive.

He decided to confront Ethan, hoping to glean more information. He found him working late in his cubicle, his eyes fixed on his computer screen.

"Ethan," he began, his voice low, his tone serious. "I need to talk to you."

Ethan looked up, his eyes wary. "About what?"

"About the presentation," Leonard replied, his voice laced with suspicion. "I know someone sabotaged it. And I think I know who."

Ethan's eyes widened, a flicker of surprise crossing his features. "Nathan?"

"You saw him in the conference room," Leonard pressed, his voice firm. "What did he say?"

Ethan hesitated, his gaze shifting away. "He said… he was helping you. That he was fixing some outdated slides."

"And you believed him?" Leonard scoffed, his voice laced with disbelief. "He deleted my updated slides and replaced them with outdated information. He wanted to make me look bad."

Ethan's expression hardened, his eyes filled with anger. "He did it because of Sophia, didn't he?"

Leonard raised an eyebrow, his suspicion growing. "What do you mean?"

"He's still obsessed with her," Ethan replied, his voice laced with contempt. "He can't stand to see her with anyone else. He thinks he owns her."

Leonard's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. He had suspected Nathan was jealous, but he hadn't realized the extent of his obsession.

"He's dangerous," Ethan continued, his voice low, laced with a warning. "He'll do anything to get what he wants. And he wants Sophia."
