The warm afternoon light streamed into the workshop as Madoka typed away on her laptop, her eyes scanning through data. Arjun sat across from her, gripping Bakushin Airavat tightly. Ever since Madoka offered to analyze his Beyblade, he had been eager to fine-tune its performance.
Madoka adjusted her glasses and turned her laptop screen toward him. "Alright, listen up. There are four main types of Beyblades: Attack, Defense, Stamina, and Balance. Understanding them will help you get the most out of Bakushin Airavat."
She pulled up a diagram of different Beyblades. "First, we have Attack types. These Beys rely on speed and aggression. They usually have flat performance tips, like Rubber Flat (RF), which maximize movement. The goal is to knock out opponents before they run out of spin. However, their stamina is usually poor, and if they don't land a strong hit early on, they're at a disadvantage."
Arjun watched intently as Madoka clicked to the next category. "Defense types—like your Bakushin Airavat—are built to withstand attacks. They use heavier, rounder parts to absorb impacts and avoid knockouts. Your Coat Sharp (CS) tip helps maintain grip while deflecting attacks. The Bakushin Wheel is designed to minimize recoil and keep the Bey in the center of the stadium, making it tough to move."
She switched to another diagram. "Stamina types focus on lasting the longest. They use narrow tips to reduce friction, which lets them keep spinning even when other Beys slow down. But they tend to be lightweight, which makes them vulnerable to knockouts."
Finally, she pulled up the last section. "Balance types try to mix different attributes from the other three categories. Some can switch modes, while others just have well-rounded designs. The challenge is making sure they don't become 'jack-of-all-trades, master of none.'"
Arjun nodded, taking it all in. "So, if I wanted to make Bakushin Airavat an Attack type, I'd have to change the tip, right?"
"Exactly," Madoka said, flipping through some data. "Your Bakushin Wheel is a Defense wheel, but it actually has good upper attack potential. If you swapped Coat Sharp (CS) for Rubber Flat (RF), it would become more aggressive. The extra grip would let it push opponents out of the stadium. But you'd lose a lot of stamina and stability."
She pointed to another option. "Alternatively, Metal Flat (MF) could let you tornado stall—where you launch the Bey at an angle so it moves in a wide circle around the stadium. The idea is to avoid direct contact until your opponent slows down, then strike when they're weak."
"That sounds awesome! Let's try it!" Arjun grinned.
Madoka sighed. "There's a problem. Metal Flat is rare, and even my dad doesn't have any in stock. So, for now, we can't test it."
"Bummer." Arjun frowned but quickly perked up. "Well, I still want to keep Bakushin Airavat a Defense type. I like holding the center and outlasting my opponents."
"Good call," Madoka said. "Your Bey has a low-profile Spin Track, which means it's harder to destabilize. And the tusk-like designs don't stick out much, so only the metal part is usually hit. That should give you extra stamina."
Eager to test his Bey, Arjun rushed to the park, where several kids were battling. He played multiple matches, keeping Bakushin Airavat firmly in the center. His low height made it tough for opponents to knock him off balance, and the Coat Sharp tip kept him stable.
But then, a teenager stepped in. Unlike the younger kids, he had core strength and experience. When he launched his Bey, the sheer force alone sent Arjun's Bakushin Airavat flying out of the ring.
Arjun blinked. "Whoa…"
Madoka crossed her arms. "That's the difference a strong launch makes. Even the best Beyblade won't perform well without a solid launch technique."
Arjun picked up his Bey, deep in thought. "So, launch speed and technique are just as important as the Bey itself?"
"Exactly," Madoka said. "The way you grip the launcher, angle your shot, and use your strength all affect how your Bey performs."
Arjun clenched his fist. "Then I'll train harder. Next time, I won't lose just because of launch power."
Madoka smirked. "That's the spirit. Now, let's work on improving your launch technique."
