"You're predictable, Alex," Kane said, adjusting his cufflinks. "Still playing hero."
Alex's lightning flickered weakly—dampeners in the room stifling his power. "Why her? Your own daughter?"
Kane smirked. "She's a tool. Like you. Like *this*." He kicked Jade. "Did you really think she cared? I *ordered* her to recruit you."
Jade stirred, her voice a broken whisper. "Alex... I'm sorry..."
"Enough." Kane nodded to Pyroclasm. "Kill him."
The enforcer raised a flaming fist—then froze.
"No." Pyroclasm's mask slid off, revealing Finn's scarred face. "I'm done being your dog."
Chaos erupted.
Finn tackled Kane as Alex smashed the dampeners. Power flooded back—he grabbed Jade and leaped into the reactor shaft.
"Hold on!" he shouted.
They plunged toward the core.
