Walking out of the company building with my colleagues laughing
"Geez, when will you stop bitching her about it?" I said smiling
"when she stops blushing whenever I call talk about him, I will stop teasing her" Bridget said laughing, then we all laughed
I stopped laughing and stopped walking as well when I notice Blake standing just outside the company waiting,he was leaning on the car with his hands crossed at the parking lot.
"hey little lion" he said calling out at me walking towards me, linking my hands on both of my colleagues, I acted as though he was referring to me
"hey wait hold up" he shouted following us as I drag my Colleagues towards my car
"hey Emily, what's going on?" Bridget asked
"do you know that guy? is it you he's talking to?" Gwen asked
"I will explain to you guys, please get in the car first? I said hurriedly unlocking the cars with the car keys
they were already in the car and just as I was about to jam the car door Blake held it
"Emily we need to talk" he said clearly out of breath taking a deep breath trying to control his self
"I'm sorry, but I've got nothing to say to you" I said see still trying to pull the door "but I do I have a lot to say, a lot of questions to ask you" he said looking at me straight in my eyes
"well I'm sorry to say, but I don't want to know you, don't want to hear about you, don't want to hear anythingthat has to do with you" I said looking him straight in the eyes already sick and tired of this chase and catch act
"and definitely don't want anything to do with you, isn't that what you told me to do? to stay away from you" I asked still looking straight back at him, he seemed confused thinking deep, using the opportunity I locked the car doors and drove off
"hmm so how the hell did you get to know such a breathtaking guy huh?" Bridget asked winking at me
"well I.... hmmm...." i said thinking of what to say
"yeah that guy is heavenly handsome he looks like one of those creatures God took his time to structure, but why did you turn him down?'"
"well, you see we used to be I'm friends back when we were very little or shouldi say from babies, but we some how got separated in high school, we recently made an encounter and he says he want us to be together, like he want us to getting into a relationship" i said not knowing what to say well it's a partial lie and partial truth
"but that guy looks familiar" Bridget said
"yeah I think I saw him in the TV or something" Gwen said
"never mind that, are you ladies going home or you want to drop off somewhere" I asked trying to change the line of conversation
"nah we are going home" Gwen said from the backseat
"today is Tuesday right" Bridget asked
"yeah" I said confused
"David is coming over today right?" Gwen asked
"he will" I said driving to the next Street
"any plans for dinner? what are you going to prepare for him" Gwen asked
"I'm too exhausted to cook anything and David doesn't mind that's the reason why I like him and he never demands or complains about anything" I said
"well I envy you, my boyfriend isn't like David" Bridget said
"jealous yet?" I asked smiling
"in your dreams" both Bridget and Gwen said in unison
when I got home I was so exhausted, too tired to cook I had lit the fire when I arrived home from work, knowing David is coming and would appreciate the warmth.
then she spent 20 minutes relaxing in a hot bath before slipping into a long flowing caftan. she recognised David's lights tap on the door and called him to get in
"I'm too lazy to get up" she was curled up, half sitting on a pile of soft cushion on the carpet in front of the fire, a drink of lemonade in her hand
"there's a jar of lemonade in the fridge. help yourself or if you want something stronger...."
"I know where it is, so don't get up" he said smiling walking into the kitchen nothing could have induced me from getting up
twenty minutes more in front of the fire and she felt like she has began to regain some of her fatality, but not yet. she stared at the fire while she waited for David to join her, formless thoughts on her mind
David came back with a glass in his hand. He found himself a cushion and joined her on the carpet.
"I didn't start anything for dinner, I thought maybe a pizza?" she watch him lossen his tie that helped give him a business-like image at the college.
With his boylishly curly blonde hair, David has to dress deliberately to distinguish himself from the students, actually David is a lecturer at Grace Technology College.
"sounds fine shall I order it?"
it was one of the things she liked about him, not only did he like pepperoni pizza but he was perfectly willing to accept that she was too tired after a day's work to worry about cooking or hostessing.
"And how is work" David asked
"it was fine but stressful" I said tiredly
"so how was your day" I asked looking at him
"well it was like every other day fine and exhausting" he said sipping from his glass he smiled knowingly when you noticed my eyes on his lips
The pizza came. David opened the cupboard box. While Emily put another piece of wood on the fire and plugged some moody music into the stereo, David cleared away when the eating was done
"That's the way I like to do the dishes," he told her
"Just throw it into the garbage." he rearranged the cushions, and she curled up against him, her head on his shoulder
"I'm taking my brother's children to the Maritime Museum this weekend," he told her in one of the spaces between the music
"You could come along,"
"i have already made plans to visit my friends mum, sorry, maybe next time," she says, cuddling closer to him
"No need to apologise. There's always a next time we could try and fix a date," he said quietly
The music quickly loses its slow moodiness. David's hand slides along the long silky fabric of a caftan. when she turned her head to reply to him, his lips took hers with a gentle possessiveness. The music stared her blood and her body, drawing a response from her like passion
With her eyes opened, she could feel the dark man in a mind dissolves into the youthful charm of David. She was relieved when the doorbell rang. her kiss had been like a promise, making it difficult to plead tiredness or a headache
it would have to be Paula, probably forgetting that Tuesday was David night. Emily would invite her in and offer her coffee. Paula was astute enough to take the hints and that she should stick around until David left.
if Paula hadn't come, Emily would have had to send him away in any case, the music and a fire at conspire to call up Blake's ghost to haunt her. she daren't close her eyes for fear her lover would be replaced by Blake's dark threat
"ignore it," murmured David when the doorbell rang, again before Emily had herself untangled from his hands
"it will be Paula, and it shows I'm here. My car is outside," she said, standing up and walking across the carpet in her bare foot, feeling the coolness as she stepped off the carpet
"If you don't answer, she will have the sense to go away."
"Oh, come on, don't be like that," I laughed, reaching for the door
" Come on in," she said as she opened the door before she saw him.
He was smiling that smile, stepping towards her even as she started to close the door again
"You did invite me in,"
"No, not you." his arms were resting against the door, preventing her from closing it
"Please leave Blake, I have company and I don't....."
"Sure, you can introduce me to your friends"
